I normally don’t write bad reviews but I really couldn’t help myself on this one. It’s called the Philadelphian and I felt obligated as a Philadelphian to eat here since the reviews were decent.First let me say the guy who took our order was very nice. That’s about the only plus side to this place. This spot could use a major overhaul inside, everything looks dated and worn out, my chair was falling apart. However, I would’ve overlooked all of that if the food was on point! There’s some little ma and pa shops in Philly that are run down, shoot- more than half of Philly is old and rundown but their food makes up for it.Born and raised in Philly and what I got here was not a cheesesteak. It was chopped roast beef heated up on the flat grill. It’s a ROAST BEEF sandwich with provolone, please don’t call it a Philly cheesesteak, it’s offensive and far from it- you don’t offer white American cheese, or whiz either. I’m still in shock I ate what they had the nerve to call a cheesesteak. If you’re from Philly you will not like this place. I was really hoping this would be a regular spot for some good “steaks”
For 35 years been frequenting this establishment… always look for the hole in the wall for the best food. This place qualifies. Cheese steak can’t be beat.
Great service we got the 12" hot combo. They were able to split the condiments for us since we were splitting. Condiments were all normal pre packaged sort of items. I would recommend less condiments the betterJalapeños mac n cheese bites were incredible! They do a very good job wrapping as well since we took our food to go & labeling was very clear!!
This is the place to go. I bought an 8" super philly with battered mushrooms. I loved it. It also helps that, though we hadn't gone in a while, one of the guys (Josh) there remembered us by name. Take that Subway. (Two years later) I came back to this review because, after all this time, I still love this place. The battered mushrooms are still amazing, and even though it might be months between visits, Josh still hasn't forgotten our names. This is one of the few places in the world that deserves to have a line out the door.
I worked for a RV dealership that my father started in the 70's and was located in Sandy. I came to The Philadelphian 1 time per week starting from the age of 15 when I would come to work for my dad in the late 80's. Now I work for a dealership in Draper and I try to get to the Philadelphian 2 times a mo. My co workers from Detroit make sure every time they come to town that I take them here! I can tell you this place is the best. Has the best fry sauce on the planet. They are VERY consistent. The recipe hasnt ever changed. Huge Sandwich for a fair price. People are friendly and Nate makes everyone feel at home when they dine in. Keep up the great work!
Best dive in sandy, best Philly cheese steaks, hands down. They stuff them with meat and toppings so you get what you pay for. The English chips are amazing, but they sell out fast sometimes, but the mac n cheese bites and fried mushrooms are acceptable substitute. Definitely worth stopping in for a bite!
I love this place! My favorite Philly Cheesesteaks in Utah. Bobby Lee the famous comedian also works here! Pretty cool stuff. Always a tasty treat! The only downside was the severely depressed cashier. I left a tip to turn his frown upside down, but instead he walked to the back of the store and killed himself…Great Cheesesteaks!
I’ve been eating here for about 20 years. This is one of the best sandwiches you’ll ever have in your entire life. They’ve definitely cleaned the place up, because when I was a kid we used to make jokes about how they bribed health inspectors with the food to make sure it stayed open.
Love what inflation has done, a 12" is now $13.99. I ordered the Philly with cheese, Lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, and mayo. For the price, I would have liked to seen fresh mushrooms and onions and a bit more cheese. The beef was a little dry but not bad, you do get a hefty amount tho. I would like to see them come up with an awesome horseradish sauce some day. The fries weren't too bad, just a bit dark and not salted. The fry sauce was great, it tasted like ranch with mayo and ketchup. The regular roast beef cold sandwich was great. For the 4" it was about $4.99. Came with a hefty amount of beef and all the toppings, you do need to ask for cheese if desired.
Excellent food! It was just as good as if you were really in the heart of Philly. Friendly staff too!
