After literally 15 years I’ve had to stop going to the Pei Wei in Sandy. They are constantly understaffed, the restaurant is filthy, and the service takes forever.I say this after giving them the benefit of the doubt, but the last 3 times I went over the last two months were all miserable. The most recent time every single table was dirty, the straws were out, and it actually took 45 minutes to get my food. The food is good but not worth the pain. The staff seems to be doing their best.
It was my first time eating at the restaurant and the 2 waitresses were so helpful. Stephanie was so kind and patient taking my order. She even hinted on how to order my next batch of pot stickers. The place looked so clean and everyone had an amazing attitude. Definitely coming back.
First they gave me the wrong order. Then they brought my order out with the wrong kind of rice. I didn’t want to complain any more because I was starving. As I got to one of the last big pieces of chicken, I cut it in half to make it more manageable and saw that it was RAW. I cut open a second piece of chicken and it was raw too! How much raw chicken did I eat??? We told the lady who looked like the manager and she just looked at me uncomfortably and apologized and said, “Well since it’s frozen before we cook it if the pieces stick together, or are really big, they might not get booked all the way through.”That’s really not acceptable food safety for me. I guess I’ll wait and see how much I’m throwing up in the next week. I used to love it here and came all the time before the pandemic. Food poisoning isn’t cool.
It is really too bad this place is going downhill. Great location and traffic. This place was really great years ago. It’s obvious it may need new management and better cooks. Everything feels cheap now. Food was mediocre. My noodles were a soggy feeling. It can be turned around, with lots of effort in presentation, better cooks, and cleaner environment. I hope it makes a comeback. But at this rate, who knows?
Dining room was filthy, sticky floors, sticky tables, disgusting. Had to wipe down and scrub sticky mess off tables and highchairs.Chicken in our entrees was over cooked and tasted foul. When we walked in there were two tables filled, so it wasn't just after a rush. This feels like grime from poor cleaning standards. The cleanliness of this establishment is shameful. Did not observe anyone cleaning tables between customers.
I love the honey seared chicken.I remember eating at their old spot in Sugarhouse and loved it.Always enjoy their meals. But the last few months, weeks, or ever since the Pandemic things have not been the same with them.It sucks but it's reality.Service is slow because they are understaffed. No staff, no ice, waiting in life for long time, and staff looks over worked.Hope they can fix it if not this place will not be here in a year or few months.
We used to love this place, but it's really gone down hill. We got takeout from here a few weeks ago and got 6 dishes which cost $75.72 and they literally messed up every dish that we ordered (ex. gave us a dish with tofu and chicken instead of just chicken, and the completely wrong noodle dish which was SUPER dry, gave us some kind of weird mush instead of brown rice in another dish, etc.). My husband will usually eat anything and we were both spitting the food out. It was all so gross. I called and complained and the manager said she'd issue a refund. Well, tomorrow will be the 3 week mark and still no refund. I've called probably 4 times and even stopped in once. Usually you wait on hold for like 20 minutes then it says they're busy and can't answer. That's why I went in, and I was literally the only person in there. The one girl with blue hair that I saw working, just turned around and saw that I was there at the order counter, then she just turned back around and kept working at the area with the utensils and stuff. She literally ignored me for probably 3 or more minutes, then the cook looked at me like he wanted to help and wasn't sure why the girl wasn't helping me, but didn't say anything. So I asked him if there was a manager I could talk to, and he called over to the blue haired girl and she was rolling her eyes pretty much the whole way while walking over to help me. This used to be one of our favorite places to go, but we never want to go back after a couple bad experiences lately, especially after this most recent experience. Food is inedible and the customer service is horrendous. Whoever is in charge of this location better change some things, or I'd guess they'll probably be going out of business soon.
I don’t normally place reviews, but after seeing the amount of 1 star reviews Pei Wei has been getting recently I had to place a good review. Every time I get food from Pei Wei it’s always hot, tastes fresh, and is definitely good. The portion sizes are sometimes a bit small, but it doesn’t deserve the amount of hate people have been giving it for the price of the food. I think a lot of people giving horrible reviews don’t really understand the impact being short staffed has on a restaurant, I’ve worked in food service and know firsthand what it’s like. I’m sure the everyone working at Pei Wei is trying their best with the amount of people they have. I doubt this one review is much of a consolation, but I just wanted to try and help against the flood of negative reviews
So sad. This is good food but this location is absolutely TERRIBLE. Today was our third and final time seeing if anything had improved. We ordered food online after the last time we went in to order food. That time, the dining area was closed. Your only option was to sit outside in the cold. Then when we got up to the register, they let us know it would be a 45 minute wait for lettuce wraps. This time we decided to call and no one answered so we ordered online. When we arrived at 12:35pm, the doors were locked. They were supposed to open at 11am. We joined another man in wondering if we would get our food. (His order was supposed to be ready at 12pm). We knocked on the doors and someone came out. We waited and they made our food then. Then when we got home and looked in the bag our spring roll we had paid for was missing. I’d stay away for now if you’re considering food from here until there’s better management of people and resources. So Sad.
Came into a near empty restaurant last week, ordered with an irritable server, and waited 45 minutes for mediocre food. A 2 piece wonton order was forgotten not once, not twice, but a third time… at that point, we’d been finished with our entrees for 30 minutes. Not worth waiting over an hour for an appetizer. Everyone working was extremely irritable, and visibly frustrated, openly agitated towards one another and customers… I’m not sure what happened, but Pei Wei’s service has declined dramatically. It used to be one of our favorite places, but now I’d never recommend it.
