With close to 900 restaurants in its chain, Carvers has managed to maintain its reputation as a nice place to go if you're willing to pop down a Franklin for a couple of good meals with a nice glass of wine. There were six of us on this night, each of us being a different type of eater and each of us being a different type of drinker as well; and I must add that the list of wines, beers and spirits is quite extensive and reasonable for such a chain. So you pay $12-14 for a glass of wine (many are just $9) but it's a glass of wine you enjoy and something you'd treat yourself to when at home...same with their list of scotches and such (my friend ordered a Moscow Mule but as with most places, it's probably best to not try the restaurant "specialties," at least those from the bar). When it came time for ordering food, my wife split the Tournedos Oscar ($44) with her friend and was a tiny bit disappointed in its chewiness; we had all arrived partially because the three ladies in our group had feasted on a delicious lunch here the week before, ordering the same dish, and couldn't stop talking about how the meat just melted in your mouth (needless to say, their expectations were high). One of the pieces of my seared ahi was admittedly too tough to even cut with a steak knife, and was quickly replaced with two beautiful but cold ahi filets, seared for a second or two but actually still quite chilly in the center. My other friends both had the special of the night, a complete trio of steak, coconut shrimp and halibut and were absolutely delighted. So okay, some of us were thrilled and others less so; but none of it mattered because we were being served by Dustin who wanted to ensure that everyone was happy (he was adamant at replacing my ahi immediately, explaining that often with tuna steaks it's difficult to know when one turns out to be fibrous...but then this IS a place known for steaks and not for seafood). Dustin's service was impeccable and reason enough to return, he proving as professional as he was personable. A question about a wine, he knew it (my friend tried unsuccessfully to test him on his knowledge). A question about a beer, he knew that as well (if I recall, he's one of 9 siblings so perhaps he did have some prior background in all of this). And of course, his knowledge of the food was superfluous, his descriptions far better than the menu itself. All in all, we chalked it up as a grand evening, even with the prom party of 20 behind us, their nervousness and laughter bringing us back to our own early days of youth when going to such a restaurant was a true night on the town. Our meal was never hurried, the conversations lively and Dustin smiling throughout it all. We'd go back, perhaps not on a Saturday night...but maybe we would if Dustin was there.
Visited for a business dinner meeting. My client got the Prime Rib and loved it. I should have gone with the Prime Rib, it looked fabulous. I went with the Ribs, because the server said the meat is fall off the bone and the dish is one of his favorites. I was served dry, hard, lucwarm ribs - just awful. The BBQ sauce served with it was extremely to sweet for my taste. Please see my pic, that is what I sent home in a box that my client took for his dogs. Maybe it was a one off, it happens. But to add insult to injury, their “from scratch” French Onion Soup is awful. It is not on the menu, special order….. Skip it. They took an onion, cut it up, poured some beef brother over it and placed in oven to melt the cheese. Like the ribs, it was lucwarm. The onions were not cooked and seriously, there was no flavor. What the heck?In the end, my client was happy. If it was not a dinner meeting, I would have sent everything back. Sorry for the bad review, you cannot always have a 5 star meal. On another very positive note, service was on point and our server was excellent!
Went there for dinner it was really good. We got the stuffed mushroom,, beef soup and the prime rib. The prime rib tasted like thyme and rosemary maybe a little too much but it was still really good. Oh and make sure to get one of their yummy salads!
I have been a long time customer of Carver's Steak's and Seafood for over 20 year's. I am a huge fan of this prestigious fine dining restaurant. The atmosphere Carver's Steak's and Seafood offer is very romantic, warm and comforting. The staff of servers are the best I've experienced, very kind, friendly, welcoming and took wonderful care of my husband and I, very attentive to our needs.Carver's steak's are beyond delicious, very nice cuts of meat, and the Carver's Cut Prime Rib is the best I have ever tasted. The lobster tails are extremely meaty and the best tails I've ever had. The rack of ribs is fall off the bone scrumptious. My husband loved the Porterhouse Steak, cooked to perfection.Carver's has wonderful sides and it's often hard for me to choose as they all are great. One of my favorite choices of potatoes is their au gratin potatoes...... Absolutely out of this world delicious. My favorite salad is toss up between the Spinach and Romaine, both salad's are wonderful and very fresh, straight out of the garden fresh, they're that fresh!!If you haven't tried Carver's Steak's and Seafood I highly recommend one makes a reservation and visit this amazing fine dining restaurant. It truly is one of the best, if not the very best fine dining steak and seafood restaurant in Utah.
Donavan was our waiter and he was awesome so I highly recommend him as your wait staff... the food was amazing as always we can't wait to come back on our next vacation thank you again Donavan
Never in my life have I ever found a better steak! Hands down the best food I have ever experienced. The ambiance of the restaurant was amazing, service was on point, and above everything else; the best bone in rib-eye I could ever have asked for. Absolutely the best restaurant and good experience I’ve had in Utah. This place is our new go to! You will not regret it
I don't always go to steakhouses, but it was a must when my grandparents were in town! We went here and, first of all, the steak was delicious! I can still remember it, even though it was over a year ago! The wine was delicious as well, and for the most part, the waiters left us to eat, allowing us to have meaningful conversation. That's not to say that they didn't check up on us, refill our wine glasses and water glasses, and ask how we were, because they did all of that and more! We were treated very well here!
Ordered the Surf and Turf and the Filet Mignon was not cooked beyond rare. Was chewy and tasted just awful! Have traveled all over the world, and this was by far the worst. Will say, the Lobster was very good...but not worth the $$. Will not be going back as it is overpriced for mediocre food and ambiance. (be ready to make a reservation, check in, then be ignored)
Wow! This place is wonderful.I love the ambience. I had the lamb chops. They were good, but could of used more flavor.Overall very pleased with Carvers. The staff is friendly and the service was quick!!
I have eaten at many prestigious steak houses around the country during my career as a professional athlete. I can safely say that I was absolutely blown away by my dinner tonight. I loved the ribeye! Drinks, appetizers, and dessert were absolutely on point. My partner wanted an Irish coffee, but wanted decaf. Our waitress went out of her way to brew us a fresh pot of decaf and the drink came out on point! I am very impressed with this restaurant and plan on coming back! Thank you for making this night perfect and thank you to our waitress for making this night fun and enjoyable.
