I think Café Rio is delicious. This place is very busy and the line moves really fast. I love their burritos and nachos. Always worth eating here. If you are not on the rewards app you should check it out. One of the employees was extremely friendly and fun to talk to while ordering
I used to love their salad. Not any more. They raised the price by $4 and reduced the amount of ingredients in the salad. Hardly any beans or rice in it, much less lettuce. The dressing, which was my favorite, has been changed. It isn't the same. I can make a better salad at home for this price, actually I can make four or more salads for this price.
Wait times and accuracy have significantly improved lately. I don't love the new look but c'est la vie
We live up the street from this location and order food several times a month. When I go in to pick up my order, it is wrong or missing items almost every time. The staff is busy, so it’s difficult to get someone to correct my order. Food tastes great, but I dread picking up the food knowing I’m going to have to wait and ask for them to fix something. Latest order - items were added to my meal that I requested be removed. Both kid's meals were wrong. I had to drive back to the store after getting home and realizing they weren’t what we ordered. I understand sometimes things get mixed up, but to have to correct my order almost every time we pick up food is very frustrating.
I have probably left only one or two reviews in my life. This one had to be done. I’ve been frequenting Cafe Rio for years and always have had positive experiences. Tonight was one to be remembered. There were so many issues and I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant as I was tonight. This is no exaggeration. The place looked like a bomb went off in the food bins. The food was all over the top of the counters. There was food in the lettuce that was dropped from other food containers. There was meat all over top counter. The house dressing was white instead of the normal green. The lettuce was soaking in water. When I got home to eat the salad I had tons of water in the bottom. The quality of food and cleanliness of the food bins was so bad that I was considering walking out. I did not recognize some of the contents in the salad. I wasn’t sure if it was soggy lettuce or if it was something else. I watched the person tucking the shell into the container with his bare hand which Was odd when he had a glove on the hand that was holing onto the container while the hand with out the glove was used to tuck the food in under the lid. I was so grossed out. If I ever see something again like I did tonight Cafe Rio will never see me in their restaurant. This was the Sandy Utah Quorry bend store. There was no excuse for this dilemma. There were plenty of workers and there was no sense of being over stressed. I am disgusted.
What happened?! 2 weeks ago this was the best location. Picked up dinner tonight and I’ve never seen this newly remodeled location look so sloppy. Nobody seemed to want to work and slopped the food around not looking very pleasant to eat. The only best part was the gentleman running the cash register, he’s always amazing! Super disappointed… went from a 5 to 1 in such a short time.
I used to like this location, however today the cashier refused to use my $10 reward. After demanding several times, they eventually did but were immediately very cold with me. I really hate to be that person that ruins a cashier's day but I'm also not gonna lose out on my reward money because you don't want to solve the problem. I probably won't be coming back to this location for a while...
When I walked in the store was maybe 2 other guests. I got to the counter to order and 1 of the 4 employees asked if someone had helped me to which I replied “no”. He didn’t say anything and motioned to one of the girls who was actually working so I sat and waited. While I waited I noticed that the majority of the food was low and looked like it had been out for quite some time (the rice was crusty). My nachos were finally made and put through the oven where, again, I found myself waiting. Nobody seemed to care to finish the nachos so the cashier finally came around and put gloves on to help. While they were finishing my meal I noticed one of the young men making a dish with no gloves. There was no sour cream left so they said they would bring it out. I received my food, paid, then sat down. No sour cream was brought out. My food was somewhat cold and there didn’t seem to be enough time between receiving it and eating it that it should have cooled it that much. I don’t hold fast food to too high of standards but I was not impressed with the service. There were a few ladies working on prep and cleaning and the two younger girls seemed to actually be working but the 2 young men were not.
Did online order, arrived 20 min later when it was supposed to be ready, waited an additional 45 minutes while watching many people come in, go through the line and get their orders. Extreme bias against online orders, people in line had long waits, but nothing like online side. Of course, food was then cold and several items wrong when got home. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because I've eaten here before and when they are not busy and we're eating in rather than take-out, the food has been good.
The remodel looks great but the food quality is poor. The "sweet pork" wasn't sweet and was very tough. We've never had grisly meat in past visits. They didn't have strawberries for tres leches the last few visits. Tonight they managed to find some after telling us they didn't have any. Either the ownership or the menus have changed, but it's not the same quality for the increased prices.
