Used to love this place and would tell all my friends about it! But the quality has gone down hill. I stopped going for the coffee and would just stick to their food items to be safe. I always ordered the same drink but it would somehow taste different every time. It’s been a while since I’ve been here and I don’t know if it’s the quality or training, but I asked for an iced white mocha and got an orangey murky water looking drink. I thought maybe since they’ve changed their menu, they have a different style of coffee now so I gave it a try and nope- tasted like cough syrup :(I never ask for refunds and was really considering it this time but sadly had to return to work. I’ll stick to Beans and Brews. Staff was super sweet though.Edit: first drink is iced white mocha from athenas. Second pic is a frozen white mocha from Beans. That’s the color it should have been.I did ask for a blended white mocha and the barista said they no longer make blended drinks. I know I got an iced one but the color and taste were still off. Did not taste like coffee at all, tasted like watered down cough syrup.
My husband and I stopped here for breakfast burritos and coffee on our way out of slc. Everything was delicious! I’ve had a lot of mediocre breakfast burritos and have sort of come to expect that over the years. This one was delicious! I could tell someone put thought and care into my burrito. The salsa was great as well. The art in the shop was really cool. I definitely recommend Athena beans!
Nice staff. Cool space. Great breakfast sandwich! Great lattes! Delicious peanut butter smoothie! But the southwestern breakfast today was not good. I knew I should have gotten another smoothie..
Came here for the first time this afternoon. Very unique decor and ambience. This place is original. We ordered soup and coffee. The taste and price was great, I found great value in my purchase. The young woman working the front was a bit cavalier but nothing to complain about. The gentlemen that brought us our soup was exceptional and provided excellent service.Overall I wound recommend this place if youre looking for a unique little cafe with a community touch and good vibes.
Super cute, great coffee, friendly staff! This is a perfect quiet place to get some work or online school done. It's not usually too crowded, and the WiFi works great. There's a bunch of local art, which adds to the cozy vibes. The baked goods are really fresh and tasty. I'd definitely recommend this place!
I am such a big fan of Athena Bean. Great coffee and excellent service. What I love most though is the variety of the environment. Want to tuck away in a corner? They have several spots to do that. Want to host a big breakfast meeting for 50 people? They have that upstairs. Want to host a half day meeting with your team at work and saddle up at a big table and collaborate? They have that too!Today I brought my work team in at breakfast, they opened a tab for me and left it open through lunch. We were able to keep the breakfast, snacks, coffee, and water flowing. We finished with a delicious lunch, collaborated for another hour and finished. It worked so incredibly well I’m going to start doing it on the regular. I just love this place!I don’t recall the girls name that helped us but she was AMAZING! She took such great care of us. She had short hair and glasses and should be employee of the month.

My new coffee shop. Barista CJ did it up right, offering to infuse cinnamon into my decaf latte. No one has ever offered that! Good coffee, wood tables give a warm welcoming atmosphere, relaxing music on now, large rental space upstairs, drive thru at the back of the building not visible from the street. In mall with state liquor store. I'll be here for Monday night open mic ? at 8pm! Phoenix
I love Athena! The atmosphere of it is welcoming and relaxing with an attentive staff that wants to work there. The food is delicious, (I’m eating their scrumptious tortilla soup right now) and their hot chocolate is even delicious cold. Definitely my coffee place of choice.
The coffee is pretty good, but the overall atmosphere of Athena is somewhat lackluster. I’m not sure what kind of vibe they’re going for, it seems all over the place. Is it supposed to be a library aesthetic? A workspace? A restaurant? The furniture, flooring, and wall color is outdated. The wall art doesn’t seem to relate to the books on display (or for sale?). There’s a ton of stuff at the front counter for sale that make the area feel small and cluttered. There are huge ugly booths which give me the impression that the building used to be a full restaurant. Seems like a waste of space that could be filled with smaller tables, or a small stage for events. I know they have an upstairs event space but the main floor is huge and could accommodate something like that.I usually enjoy my experience there, but it’s forgettable. There’s nothing drawing me back. If a business doesn’t care about interior design, then the product has to be out of this world amazing. And the food and the coffee is decent at best, so not having an intentional and inviting atmosphere only hurts Athena. If I had a remote job, I’d probably go here to work though because it’s so quiet.
