Zao is simply one of the best restaurant chains. They offer a wide variety of options to accommodate a wide variety of diets. I always get a white rice bowl with tofu and green curry. Their tofu is some of the best you can get at any chain restaurant. One thing I want to highlight is their passion limeade with hibiscus. That drink is godly.
Imagine Chipotle but Asian. Overall the food isn’t bad. I think it’s a bit pricy for what you get. Your dollar stretches further at Panda. I’ll still stop by but not this location.I’ve visited a handful of times and each time the person who asks me what I want at the beginning of the cafeteria line has a scowl on their face and they act put out. The person who bagged mymeal was the only pleasant and communicative person. They had a special where you could sub in cucumbers for noodles. I asked for that and the guy gave me grief. If it’s not an option to have cucumbers in a salad make that clear on your signs so your employees don’t pass their bad attitudes onto customers.I understand that restaurants are going through tough times with COVID and all. I’m always the first person to strike up a conversation with employees; as I myself have worked good service and customer service for many years.
I arrived at around 10 mins before 9pm. I didn’t know that they close early. The chunky guy who was in charge of the cash register was kind rude. I ordered three Zao tacos with everything on them. He almos drop off one of my tacos making a mess with all the toppings and he didn’t care about it, he just took a foil wrap and squeezed my tacos. I told him that I wanted my food to stay, and he responded in a not very pleasant tone “we’re closing in a minute” I was like w. Pretty much he was telling me gotta out here. There are other better ways to treat customers and thus understand when staff are in a hurry.
Love the food, normally great and friendly staff, I was just barely there getting a bowl, when the guy asked if wanted carrots, I said yeah & avocado please. In a very condescending almost baby talk voice he said “awe it’s extra” (obviously I’m not broke if I’m spending $10 on a bowl of rice a tofu….) I said; “yeah, that’s fine.” He then puts the tip of the very large spoon into the avo and gives me the smallest little spot of avocado ??? I was so surprised and confused I just said, “really? Extra for that much?” He didn’t respond I just laughed, bought my food and left.
I was so disappointed in the portions I received at the Zao in Midvale, UT off of Ft. Union. My wife got a Kid's meal and she had more food than I did! I only received 1/2 of the amount of Rice/Noodles I normally receive and when I asked for the normal portion they said it would cost more. I asked for the manager and she said the new policy company-wide is to reduce the portions of everything they serve. When I got my bowl it was only 3/4 full whereas it is usually heaping over the top of the rim.If this is true, I'm done with Zao!
Me and my family will never go back to this location. I would give zero stars if it was an option. The food is lacking and made my husband sick. Also the cashier by the name of Anna was extremely rude and unprofessional.
Reliably good food, cute staff, and an easy breezy chill vibe. Their yakisoba noodles are really yummy, and the tacos are to die for. Definitely get the super sauce if you order a bowl! It is spicy and delicious! Also, their fresh lemonade and other drinks are good! I usually water them down a little bit so I can drink twice as much ?
Oh my goodness, the food was fabulous. The mango and cucumber lemonade were very good. The cucumber is sweetened with stevia so is low calorie
Worst Experience Ever! Employees were very rude. Would not recommend going here, Food wasn’t that good either.
My food tasted so fresh. The bowl is deceivingly large.
