I lucked out today with this restaurant. My previous visit was great but this time the take out no so. Malai Kofta- kofta dry and hard inside.Felt like not properly defrosted or cooked. Rice was perfect and Kulcha good. Raita for 3.95 i had to add picture for you to see the size you get for this price. Its a joke.More like sampling size.Insode very few extra thin strips of cucumber and carrots.
I'm not a big fan of curry, but my family was having a gathering at The Kathmandu and so I went anyway. I'm happy to report that there were plenty of very tasty dishes which were not curry! Furthermore, the service was terrific, the food was all very good. It is a very nice restaurant and a great place to have a meal, with great ambiance. All the servers work very hard. One thing I really liked was they seem to work extra hard to keep the tables very clean and you feel like they make the extra effort to make certain every table is sort of like being used for the first time (spotless glass tabletop, shiny spotless plates, etc.). I really appreciate that level of cleanliness and efficiency. I'll go again sometime!
I have not eaten hear. The windows have full curtains covering the view of the restaurant. What are they hiding. Not inviting. The smell of cooked grease and curry sticks up the neighborhood. If you look at the back of the restaurant you will find trash on the ground, what appears to be grease running down the foundation wall near the 55 gallon drum of who knows what. If the back of the restaurant is this filthy, what is the kitchen like. Before you go in, look at the back of the restaurant. Ask yourself is this the place you want to eat?
I went to the Kathmandu with my wife and 2 children and we absolutely loved it. My kids are very picky and I was surprised they loved the food. The service was exceptional. My kids had the Everest chicken and butter chicken and they loved it. I had chicken tikka masala and my wife had chicken coconut korma. Each and every one of the entrees were amazing. Great management atmosphere and hospitality!! We will be back.
Ambiance and service were nice but the food wasn’t very good. Everything was lacking flavor. The color of the green chutney and also the mango pudding was very off putting, they must put a ton of food coloring in there because the color was not natural. I couldn’t even eat it because of that.
Non other Indian restaurants can make the food Kathmandu can. I have tried almost all Indian restaurants in Salt Lake City. In comparison to all of them the Kathmandu has the best food. The chicken tikka masala is very different than other restaurants and I bet the best chicken tikka masala in town. The services was also excellent. The restaurant looks so clean, peaceful with amazing hospitality.
This restaurant is exceptionally managed for great quality food and services. It’s my first visit to this place and it’s already my favorite Indian restaurant. Impressive quality of Indian food. The chicken tikka masala was out of this world. I have huge experience of Indian food and tried several Indian restaurants but the Kathmandu is way too good.
They made lot of changes and remodeling of dinning room. It looks so good than before. We went there on Saturday night and the restaurant was packed. The wait time was 20 minutes which was not that bad. We were seated after 15 minutes. We ordered veg samosa appetizer which came in just 5 minutes. We ordered weekend special salmon combo comes with salmon tikka masala, salmon coconut korma and salmon grill which was the best salmon dish I have ever had. We have been to Kathmandu since 6 years and we are never disappointed with their 5 stars service and food and now it’s even better with new management. Kathmandu rocks!! Yayyy!!
Great food, service and atmosphere!! What else we need?? I was very happy with their 5 star food and service. This is my third visit and thought why not I post the first review of my life!! Here you go Kathmandu you nailed it!!
Just waited 1hr after being told the food would be ready in 25-35min. I arrived at the 35min mark, as I am a 6yr customer and have learned that the food takes longer to come out. They have always had my favorite Tikka Masala flavor profile in the valley, but the dish has gotten more liquidy in the past 6months.. this time it was straight WATER. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE customer service. I have been way too patient with this place over the years, but am a customer no more. Sayonara and Good Riddance. Tandoor Indian Grill on 3300 S is close and just as good.
