I’m pretty spoiled living with. Portland, OR with all of the vegan and gluten-free options. I was very pleased to see a vegan doughnut shop with some gluten-free options. The gluten-free vegan cupcake in the picture was delicious. It had a thick confectionery sugar and a crumbly cake with a light taste of cornmeal. I will be sending my husband back for more before we head back to Portland :)
Cool edgy hipster place. Be prepared to walk in wearing your mature face + a mask. I didn’t realize the mask deal until I was walking out and my mature face was no where to be seen when I saw the ??? body part donuts. Good stuff to know ahead of time. Very fun. Very cool.
Flavors were great with a number of creative offerings — I recommend the blueberry lavender. The texture left something to be desired. The doughnuts were very bready (they really reminded me of the texture of Dunkin’s doughnuts). I wish they were either yeasted or cake-y. I did hear the Big Os had a better texture (I got the Little Os) so I intend to try one of those in the future.I really appreciate that they offer small size options and that they’re vegan!
I will preface this by saying I love the donuts. They are delicious. But unfortunately I will have to stop going until they get rid of the mask mandate. I don’t travel with my mask anymore because nowhere requires that I wear one. They have disposable masks at the front door and I can’t imagine the waste/garbage that’s created for people that come in here, don’t have one with them and have to use a disposable one for less than 2 minutes to grab a donut. The CDC has even gotten rid of them for travelers, I truly don’t understand why they still require it. I do believe that they have the right to choose if they want customers to wear masks, I unfortunately just can’t shop there until they stop. I can’t support all the waste and garbage they are contributing to.
Cool these are vegan which I didn’t realize they were just ok. I like the variety of flavors but again kind of mediocre. Always fun to be greeted at a donut shop by aggressive signs screaming at you to mask up. No mask = no donut is just confrontational and annoying. With even the CDC and more studies admitting masking has done next to nothing for a highly contagious respiratory virus this just comes off as silly. Won’t be returning
I hope these photos don’t get flagged for being inappropriate ?These donuts are to die for!!!! And it’s crazy, absolutely crazy that they’re vegan! They’re just too good to be true!!! ?And omg just get a look at what works of art/masterpieces these all are!!! The D’s!! The P’s!! And the Nips!!!!! I LOVE THEM!!! Best donuts in the world. Please, please keep these naughty shaped donuts on the menu forever ??This is WHY UTAH IS ? HOT ?THANK YOU FOR BEING ORIGINALLY LOUD AND PROUD!!!Thank you Big O Doughnuts for making my food dreams come true!!!!!! Can’t wait to come back!!
I went with my husband about 2 months ago just to try out some donuts. The concepts for the flavors are great. The downside of the donuts is that you can taste the fat/grease on them, leaving your mouth filled with light flavor and oil. Not a huge fan of that
Love all the donuts, but my favorite is the cinnamon churro cake donut, so good! I only wish their prices were better (as a comparison, a specialty donut at my local non-vegan donut shop is $1.49, and their regular sized donuts start at $2.95 each. I normally expect vegan products to be a little more expensive, but these are almost double the cost of a regular donut :( That being said, they are so good that it never stops me from picking up one or two when I'm in the area!
Would have loved to try out a local shop, give the small mom and pop companies my business over larger companies you can find anywhere. What happened was I was asked if I had a mask, which I did not, and then told I had to wear one to be in their establishment, which is fine. I guess.Masks are not federally mandated. Masks aren’t state mandated. It’s interesting to me that you’d rather turn down a paying customer (vaccinated, by the way) for not choosing to wear a mask. Again, that’s their choice, and I gladly walked out and back to my semi. When 6 other truck drivers expressed they were going across the street from the job we were working, to grab a coffee and donut, I kindly let them know that without a mask, they would be turned away. So they didn’t come in.We’ve been in a pandemic for 2 years, with no end in sight. I have been vaccinated and boosted, but requiring a mask and turning people away for not complying seems irresponsible for smaller establishments who may end up going out of business a lot faster during these scary and unstable times in our economy. Just my opinion.
We usually love these donuts, and placed a valentines order excited to have some fun heart shaped donuts for the holiday. Was a little disappointed when I saw three heart shaped donuts instead of four (one they had subbed for a round), when others I had seen on their story were all heart shaped. Also would have liked to add my own tip on the order instead of having one placed for me, I like to tip big, but aftersomeone has already added it to the bill. I get it, Utah people don't usually tip well, I still think that is the decision of the person paying for the order, not the businesses decision. Donuts were a bit drier than the last time I bought them, in the end I will not place a dm to order, better to buy fresh or make your own.
