We went to Red Iguana 2 because we had a large party. The service was great, the servers were very funny and responsive to out every need. The food came out quick and was very tasty. We got the mole coloradito and mole negro, the red iguana, Red iguana enchiladas, the 2 burritos ahogadasthe red iguana tacos, the tacos de machaca con huevo, and the Cochinita pibil. The table was ready with water, homemade chips and salsa, they brought out mole for everyone to try as well. The guacamole was good and refreshing. We also ordered the Rajas de chili con queso which was delicious as an appetizer as well. The portions are definitely worth the price as well. I wouldn’t say it’s the best Mexican I’ve had but it was certainly a memorable experience and if we lived closer we’d be back often!

This place is a family favorite. Whenever we come to town we usually try to have a family dinner here. The service is always friendly, though you may wait for your food for a bit if you go during peak times because the food is prepared fresh. Our server, Manny was fantastic and attentive.I had the Red Iguana Dinner Salad with chicken... not my usual choice but I was looking for something lighter. It was a surprisingly good salad. My aunt got the Topitio Plate, enchilada, chile relleno and a chicken flauta. It was all authentic and delicious. It is a lot of food... so be prepared for leftovers.

My wife and I attended a private event at the Red Tree Room, which is associated with the Red Iguana 2. The food and margaritas were amazing, and the people were extremely helpful and nice. I would 100% go back here. Sadly, I no longer live in Salt Lake, so I'm not sure when I will have the opportunity.

Even though we had made a reservation, as a party of 11 we had to wait to be seated. There is outside heated seating while you wait. This shows how popular this is. The food menu was very different from Mexican restaurants I am used to. There were specials of the day and chose a burrito with an interesting fruit sauce. Not normal for me but it was excellent. I am looking forward to going there again the next time I am in SLC.

Stopped in to grab a late dinner after work. Decided on a jalapeño margarita, which was almost the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, and the Mole Coloradito. The mole was some of the best I’ve tasted and the carnitas were juicy and tender. And it came with the standard chips and (very tasty) salsa, and a side of rice and beans. I didn’t leave hungry!

Was in town for a business trip, found Red Iguana 2 on Find Me Gluten Free app, decided to try it for lunch. Very popular place as constant flow of customers walking in the door. My waiter, Devon, was very nice and knowledgeable about gluten-free items. Asked several questions about menu items, and he was very helpful. Suggested enchilada with a mango sauce that sweet and a little spicy on the menu. It wasn't listed as GF, but he explained how it could be modified to be GF. Liked it so much I went back for dinner, this time getting tacos. Also GF and very good. Definitely would recommend for people needing to eat gluten free and for thos who don't. The restaurant staff is super efficient and on the ball.

Expect to wait if you’re going at an hour when other people eat. It’s delicious and busy, and worth the wait. A local favorite with so many delicious options. I love the green sauce with chips and often find myself craving it when it’s been too long since I’ve had it. I don’t ever remember to take photos of my food, because I’m too busy eating it. Close to the train tracks, which adds entertainment to an already colorful establishment. Many drink options and a full menu of top Mexican favorites. Chips and salsa, but do yourself a favor and add the green sauce, a chimichanga, and a beer, paired with friends or family, and your night will be made.

I live in Texas, where Mexican food is a big deal. I was super skeptical going for Mexican food in Utah. My expectations were pretty low.But I was pleasantly surprised. The food is fantastic. The menu is pretty extensive, perhaps even slightly overwhelming. The margaritas are on point. Even my kids enjoyed their meal, which doesn’t happen often. Can’t say I’ll be back, as I don’t live in Utah. But should I find myself back in Salt Lake, this place will be my first stop.

We arrived at 8pm knowing that there would be a wait. The hostess took our name and mobile number and said they would let us know when our table is ready via a text. They sent an initial text stating a 50 minute wait. To our pleasant surprise the wait was only 30 minutes! The waiter was very attentive from start to finish. Great service all around. Now I won’t claim I know anything about Mexican Cuisine but it was very tasty. All five in our group had a good meal. Price was very reasonable as well. It was a fun place to end the day. Why the 4 stars vs 5? Well, I am a tough grader. Everything would need to blow me away. This was close but that extra intangible just wasn’t there.

Wonderful local eatery. While we've made many happy trips to the Red Iguana (RI), this was first to RI-2. Similar to RI (parent restaurant nearby), this one also has excellent food and drinks. Mole sauces are hard to pass by, as soooo good. We think the service was a little better here than Red Iguana. One minor limitation is the heavy train traffic directly across the street. Then again, it provides interesting side light and if you have kids along, that's a plus for distracting them while waiting, and for conversation with them about trains. Guac also good.
