Rocco was hands-down THE BEST BARTENDER we have ever come across and we travel a lot! We never had to ask for anything, but didn't feel intruded upon and his beer recommendation was spot-on. Their hand-cut French fries were the perfect afternoon snack with our beers. Absolutely check this place out!
They were understaffed but still got food and drinks in a timely manner. Had the steak and it was great! Bar staff were friendly, helpful and fun! Going back tomorrow!
Service was OK but it was in the early afternoon and we visited for a late lunch. We ordered the jalapeño burger and a cheeseburger and both burgers were over cooked, we asked for them medium and medium rare. There was no flavor in either of the burger. Kind of weird, they were so greasy, the cheese only stuck to the bread and not the patty. We know why, frozen . Five stars for service 1 stars for the food.
Very disappointed with how long I had to wait. Was there at around 1 pm today. Waited over an hour for my chicken sandwich. Then had to take it to go. I had ordered a salad on the side with honey mustard dressing. But it came with honey mustard which is way too thick for the salad. But I since I opened it when I got back to my hotel salads was wasted! Perhaps they happened to be too busy when I was there but unfortunately it was still my experience. Fyi someone at the table next to me had an amazing looking huge delicious burger!
I always have a great time and have great service but tonight was terrible. The older waitress was taking our orders and she seem already upset. She was being short with us. Most of the people in my table work for tips so we know to be nice because it's hard working for tips. But she was very short with us even cutting my friend off when she asked him if he needs anything else, he said no that's it, she told him good because I have to leave and left before he could finish. Because of that my friend didn't leave a good tip but still left a tip. She comes back and tells us in a very adamant way, " I appreciate you guys coming in but I only make 2.50 an hour." Closed all of our tabs even though some of my table just came in and they only got one drink. Like we get the frustration living off tips but that was very on called for. She then gets another waitress with black hair to pick up our card and I guess they talked because she was very rude. She was very aggressive. I know she was looking out for her co worker but it's not professional the way she acted towards us. My friends card declined and she comes back and throws it at the table and he is one of the ones that just came in before they closed our tabs. She takes his card and when she came back, she puts the card away from him at the end of the table. They were letting us know that we are not welcomed without telling us. We still left tips, not good ones but we still left something. I don't want these people to get fired or anything bad but I don't want this to happen to anyone one else. If she had a bad day, I get it I have been there too but it's not great when you take out on customers and get more upset when they don't tip well. There's a reason why that happen.
Poplar is a great place to grab a drink and chill. But I'm here to talk about the pizza. And, well there isn't much to talk about. Cheese, sauce, toppings; all fine. The crust was a let down. Too thin and crackery. It was either over stretched or just not given the proper time to rise. If they work out the crust it might be a pizza worth stopping in for; but as it stands now it's just a bar pie. Considering there are 2 spots next door to get a better pie, don't make this your pizza destination. But if you're just looking for a drink with an inviting atmosphere, then this is the spot.
This pub is SO GOOD! I love coming here on a regular basis for date night. The service is really good. The drinks make it worth while and the food is outstanding! The garden Tuscan veggie burger is my go to order every time. My partner enjoys the jalapeño burger. Must try if you live or are visiting in salt lake.
Really good food, usually, and a pretty hip, modernized establishment, but they seem to have a thinly veiled contempt for their customers. We tried to phone in an order, but after several tries no one ever picked up.Having our hearts set on getting their artichoke dip we persisted and went in to the building to place the order. When we asked why nobody answered their phone they said they took it off the hook because the ringer was too loud and it annoys them, clearly prizing their ease and comfort over serving customers. God forbid they get a quieter phone. ??♂️They have a pretty high turnover rate, and from what I understand it's because the owner is unkind, indifferent, and inflexible. His attitude seems to be pervasive among the rank and file, who too often adopt his attitude.I prefer a bar where I feel my patronage is welcome, rather than a nuisance. Ain't no artichoke dip with that.
My first time here and my last. The vibe is good. I ordered chicken nachos which were $8 for a half portion. Nachos at 7-11 are better than this place. First things first, I had to dig through the chips for the chicken. And they just piled on cheese, pico and sour cream and threw it in the oven to melt the cheese, pathetic presentation and taste was ok, only because I’m not a picky eater but god damn! My server was good to check up on our group but when I paid my bill ($18.71), I paid with a $20 and she gave me $1 back. I didn’t say anything but what the??!!
Overheard 2 staff members berating a guest for walking to the bar without a mask. Super unprofessional by the staff. You could tell the guy was caught off guard by the aggressive staff members. I spoke with him after and he said that after a few hours of being there his servers shift ended and his table was forgotten, but they wanted some beers so he went to the bar to get a couple. One server verbally accosted him and when he tried to explain what was up another server, the first servers bf, came over and yelled at the guy for talking back to his gf. They clearly chose NOT to diffuse the situation when they could have spoken calmly. The male server got into the guys face, like he wanted to fight him. It was not pretty. The situation didn't end until the guy walked out of the restaurant. You could tell he was visibly upset and shaken by the incident. Regardless of what the guy did he was clearly a paying guest and he should have been treated better, someone could have said nicely to put a mask on or in the first place the restaurant could have helped their table after the shift change. Either way, a mask mandate isn't a reason to treat people like sub-humans.PS I would've said 1 star bc this whole thing made me so uncomfortable but AJ, our server yesterday, was amazing.
