We four people chose this dim sum restaurant instead of others from Chinatown because we were influenced by the good reviews. However we were disappointed from our lunching experience. First we were not treated equally when the waitress (maybe the owner) didn't want to assign us to the large table saying that were to sit 6 people. 5 minutes later 4 men came and they were assigned to the table without an issue. During the whole lunch, she rushed in and out taking orders and said things in the rude tongs. She didn't even ask us if the food were all right that she asked the other tables. After lunch, we felt we made a mistake coming here. Beside her attitude, the food were nothing being thrilled about. We went to Chinese restaurants often and each time we would find at least one disk being excited about. But not this one.
Visited SLC for a day and found this place. Food & service was good. Dim sums were a bit on the sweeter side than what I prefer but it was pretty good especially the jumbo shrimp dumplings. Some needed improvements: No music was playing. I could hear everyone’s conversation and chewings literally. And soy sauce or other condiments should be brought out to tables without asking for them.
The service and food here is always amazing. First place I ever had dim sum, and it sets the bar for every other place I go. And the prices are fair for the quality of food you receive. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves dim sum, or also anyone who hasn't tried it, because they are kind and patient, let you mark what you want, keep track of what you are spending, and will help explain how it works and not oversell you too much food. Which isn't often the case in a dim sum environment.
First time I had a restaurant told me to not come back because I told the lady I want to give her the amount of tips I think is right instead of letting her to charge me automatically what she claims a “standard “ 15% tips. Absolutely horrible service. She refused to turn on the lights on our table, she increased the price on every dishes we ordered, she didn’t refill my daughter’s water when ask to do so. Just a poke face and not happy with us for whatever reason. Maybe because we tried to speak Chinese to her? She apparently doesn’t have a clear understanding of tips and thinks her customer owns her a 15% extra fee regardless of her service. Even though her service for my family only worth $1 I still gave a generous $5 tips. Her restaurant isn’t doing well for sure. But taking advantage of her customers is not the right way to turn things around. If she keeps on doing this, I don’t think her business will last. I encourage everyone who visited or going to visit pass along the message. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
This is an absolute gem in Salt Lake. The food is really just delicious and authentic dim sum. The service can be a bit mom and pop but the food makes up for that. I'd recommend the egg custard buns, barbecue pork buns, and Shanghai dumplings. Hard to go wrong. The area can feel a little unsettling so be thoughtful about your parking and your surroundings.
Our meal was good, but not outstanding. So I gave it 4 out of 5. My wife's chicken and broccoli would have been better if it had more sauce or gravy.
Visited for the first time with friends and got to partake of their dim sum menu. Even though they were pretty busy, the wait staff was willing to answer questions--even about what the other patrons were having. We had several items off of each of the price point sections and everything seemed very good. Do know that it will take time to bring all your items, so depending how much food you order you may end up spending around 90 minutes to 2 hours start to finish...but isn't that the point of dim sum?
I was very interested and wanted to find out if I still able to order one of their popular dim sum in the evening. The girl answered my call hung up on me, I get the fact that they are busy could be just perfectly said they are a bit busy please call the other location which carry dim sum. Instead of hung up on customer
Sizzling black pepper beef was excellent - tender and flavourful, and the salted fish fried rice is good and hard to find here. Sweet and sour pork a bit too sweet, and stir fried Chinese broccoli can be more seasoned
The dim sum dumplings were a 4.5 but the stir fry dishes were a 2. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and the zucchini, bell pepper, and water chestnuts were cut into large chunks so they didn't get cooked all the way through. There wasn't much spice or flavor due to a lack of sauce. I'd try it again, but just for the dim sum.
