This is a Salt Lake Local eatery that has been around for a while. The root beer freeze is what put them on the map, and it is very sweet and rich. Imagine a frosty with the flavor of root beer, that is a root beer freeze. Their burgers are great. They are big and meaty. Their fries are pretty good too, I would say better than In-n-Outs French fries but not as good as Wendy's.This place has the feel of early American Fast food joints, but with the build materials you see in downtown style . Mind you they Blast the AC in here so it always feels cold. You'll find this place is frequently occupied. I would recommend it for the food after an event. Definitely a good place to eat, but I am not a fan of how cold or loud it can be. Great place in the summer though!

Great burger joint! Fresh ingredients!Shakes are greatWorth your stop. Highly recommend. They have a car hop service too if you'd like to eat in your car

Fun old-school burger joint with a huge menu. We ordered carside and they still have carhops like a classic drive in! Even though it was packed, service was fairly quick. You also have the option to dine inside. Servers were friendly. We tried a New York burger, cheese fries, and an avocado turkey sandwich. I was disappointed by the appearance of the sandwich (it looked simple) but it was excellent! Great fry sauce…I’m pretty sure they’re one of many who claim to be the original. The food was hot and all was quite good!Only real downside…expensive! We ended up paying just over $40 for two people.

My family has always considered Hires to be a tradition for us to visit whenever we make our way into Salt Lake. This particular visit, we made our entire trip centered around eating here. We wanted to initiate our children to the Jolley tradition and as always, Hires didn’t disappoint.Really wish that they had locations in Utah County. It’s probably good there isn’t one though, since this would become a staple in our restaurant rotation.

The cheeseburger and fries were amazing. The party was so juicy and good build of the burger. The fries were crispy and a pretty decent portion. Never had dry sauce before and loved it.

This is the worst experience I have ever had at Hire’s. All the food was cold. The bun was NOT the big H bun, it was a regular hamburger bun. There was NO cheese, bacon, fry sauce, lettuce, tomato or pickles as ordered. The fries were soggy. The onion rings were cold.I have been going to Hires for decades. I have never had such a horrible disappointing order. I added a 20% tip on a take out order I went inside to order and pick up.

The food was pretty good and the service was ok. It seems pretty expensive for the quality of food. The fries were soggy and the onion rings were sub-par. The burger was good. Overall average at best, but because of service in 2022 compared to other places it bumped a star for me.

You can't go wrong with the food and the atmosphere here. Been coming here forever with no plans to stop.

I was so excited to finally try this burgers since it's supposed to be one of the best burger place in SL. I did like it a lot, I don't remember the exact name but I got a burger with mushrooms and well I just loved that it was flavorful, both the meat and the ?❤❤The fries are ok. I shared a pumpkin spice milkshake with my boyfriend, it was BOMB!! Totally recommend it, if you are into that you have to try it, is not too creamy which I love. And the place is cozy :) my bf said they try to keep it like old style or with an 50's or I don't remember which year vibe, bc of the looks and the music, and well is just a nice place.

In SLC so we had to have lunch at the famous Hires Big H and visit Trolley Square across the street. Super good root beer floats and burgers but we were a bit surprised at the high prices. Otherwise would have given 5 stars. Great service and food came out fast!
