Food was okay. Nothing I would write home about. The "broccoli cheese soup" tasted like straight butter. And the "BBQ" pizza didn't resemble any type of BBQ sauce I've ever had, so that was disappointing. I will say the sweet potato fries were hot and delicious. I can't say how great this place was. It's a quant little industrial looking place in downtown salt lake. A little out of the way but easy to get to. It was easy enough to park on the street and walk to the place. We got pizza and a burger and both were absolutely amazing. They have very good artisan style food and the staff was great. Would highly recommend you stop here if you're in town.
Food was good. Chicken parmesean was good and average size portion. Spinach apple salad was good. Enjoyed the different dressings served with it. Service was good but slow given limited staff. Also seemed busy during the mid afternoon.
Have you ever experienced service so bad that it's actually comical? Look no further than From Scratch. I read about this restaurant on a food blog and was so excited to come for lunch here. The place is cute and the menu is very well designed, but WHOA...the service. There were two tables seated when our party of three got there, but it took a whole ten minutes for us to get seated. After being seated, the waitress walked by us about 10 times before acknowledging us. We eventually got waters and then had to flag her back down to get a drink order. We ordered a beer, a diet coke and an iced tea. Over the next 15 (15!) minutes she proceeded to bring each drink 1 at a time. When we finally convinced her to take our food order (she had to leave to "go some a pen and some paper"), she knew little to nothing about the menu (i.e. did not know how the chef prepared the tri-tip steak). Our food eventually came and we spent the rest of her meal flagging her down for more drinks. While we were eating we watched at least 3 parties come in and leave because no one helped them to a table...it became a running joke. They would come to the host stand...she would walk by them 5 or 6 times and ten minutes later they would just leave the restaurant, in hind sight that's what we should have done. The ONLY reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because the food was incredible. Hats off to the chef for sure. My guests had the tri-tip and I got the brisket sandwich. Both were wonderful. We tried the tiramisu and bread pudding for dessert and were very pleased with both. dined for lunch on 2/26
I have to say this place is worth another try. We ordered a hamburger, pizza and salad. The pizza was good and definitely the best item. The burger had decent flavor but was pretty undercooked. The fries had good flavor. The salad had good flavor as well but fell a little short for a $10 salad. It was more like a side salad. Overall the atmosphere is fun and the prices were good. Will update if we go again.
I had a cheeseburger and fries. It was great! I had recently been to another well known and highly recommended place and thought the From Scratch burger was SO much better. Loved it. My friend had the BBQ burger and loved it. If the rest of the food is as good as the burgers then this restaurant is a must!Cassidy provided excellent service!My only suggestions are that they have mustard and a better dessert selection.
Great experience, we were the only customers in the building and had a wonderful time trying the White Ale and various Pizza's. Chelsea was experienced and friendly for our team. Tucked away with a parking garage next door you can't go wrong at From Scratch
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! You must try the apple jam. My partner and I had the turkey sandwich and the chicken fettuccine. Absolutely amazing. The chicken was melt in your mouth good and the sourdough on the sandwich was delectable. 10/10 will go again.
Food was terrible. They messed up my burger 3 times. Bacon and fries were so hard and inedible that I almost broke my tooth. Very unsatisfied with the service I experienced at this place. Awful food and unprofessional employees.
How have I never reviewed From Scratch before? This place is a regular for us!At first I started by writing that I have never been disappointed here, but my husband just chided me saying that From Scratch deserves better "because that place is freaking amaze-balls." Okay guys sorry for the milk toast. I don't currently have any From Scratch in my belly!Their blue cheese and bacon burger is my go to. It's one of my top three favorite burgers in Salt Lake (after Chedda Burger and Copper Onion). Their fries are excellent. I love their pizza. The beet salad is also really really good. And I just feel good about eating here--like I am not putting a ton of junk into my body.Two enthusiastic thumbs up. Highly recommend.
