Even though the food is good, the customer service sucks. Not very friendly. Today we came in at 730pm, they have posted on their business hours they close at 9pm, however we were told they were trying to leave early because they were not busy enough to stay open. They were making everyone get their orders to go. It was pretty packed inside to me. Not really sure what that was about!
Three strikes and you're out, Chungas!!! Ordered 4 carne asada tacos, al pastor taco combo (rice, beans and drink), chips guacamole/salsa and a of variety salsas ($5 worth of 2 oz containers).First strike - missing guacamole/salsa and drink.Second strike - mushy riceThird strike - $3 tacos with little to almost no meat!!It's pretty sad looking. I can get street tacos at the taco truck for way less, more meat and free salsas. I even included a tip for my pick-up!!!
I really like that they give out adobo sauce with their tacos, that's a great touch. However their prices are really high for street tacos and their rice/beans leave a lot to be desired. The fried plantains are terrible, which is excusable as they are primarily serving Mexican rather than South American cuisine. Their churros are pretty good.
We’ve been coming here since they opened, for authentic Mexican cuisine, and have never come away disappointed. If you’re expecting perfect service- great tables, etc. you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re just going for the food then you’ll leave happy. We’ve tried everything on the menu and then some. My husband and I usually get their over-the-top-nachos, (smothered in every sauce they have) and their delicious pineapple flavored meat burritos, smothered, and then share both together. Totally filling! Their tacos are good, their big messy meaty sandwiches are to die for. Everything here is yummy. Go with the laid back attitude and prepare to leave satisfied. Both of their locations are delicious.
The food was good and staff very efficient and friendly. But I'll say it over and over 2.10 for 3 green sauces. It makes you look like your just taking advantage put it in with the food prices and the food we just ordered. Thanks
Food was good ... service was great and very fast .... other than workers flipping out why I was taking photos.
Amazing al pastor tacos, easily the best in Salt Lake. Their chips and salsa are also good but I really only come for the tacos.
The veggie burrito was huge but I didn't care for the spicy smothered sauce.i had to scrape it off. Maybe the regular Smoother tastes better. The staff were all very nice. I'd go back to try the corn quesadilla folks have mentioned here.
Omg! The real thing. Found by mistake . Everything was amazing. Kids fought over the guacamole. Parents ate anything the kids did not eat. And they have real Coke. ;)))
Went in to grab a bite, ordered a torta and some tacos to go. Got number 42, waited for a bit as they go 39, 40, 41, 43.... 44, 45, 47. At 47 I asked the guy if he knew where #42 was, he said he'd check. 48, 49 go by and it's been like 30 minutes and I go up the register to ask. They look, can't find my order, and at this point I'm late for meeting up with some friends for Jim Gaffigan (who btw gave a great show), and I ask if they are going to make the food or can I get a refund? They say they're still looking, but there's like 3 bags of food waiting that they keep checking, and they still aren't mine. So they're looking at the order, and out of nowhere this nice lady from the back comes up and says "we already gave you your food." Me: What? Her: We have cameras. Me. What are you talking about? Her. We already gave you your food, we have cameras. At this point I realized what she was talking about... Me: You can look at your cameras and watch me sitting there for my food. Her: We have cameras. You ordered your food more than 40 minutes ago. At this point I'm pretty amused at this situation, as it's the first time I've ever been accused of stealing. Me: That's great. Are you going to make the food or give me a refund, or do I need to do a chargeback? Her: You already ate your food, we have cameras. Me: Alrighty then. I've eaten at Chungas dozens and dozens of times over the years, and though they have gone downhill in quality in the last couple years, have never had something like this happen. Now, I should have left my number for her to call and apologize when they review their cameras, but alas I didn't, so all I get to do is leave this 1-star review and start a chargeback.
