I’m not sure that I understand the draw of upscale Mexican food when the only difference between upscale and regular is the atmosphere/building? The food was good, but nothing that separates it from a run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is decorated in a more modern way than your standard Mexican restaurant, and there were a lot more snooty-looking people than you’d might see at a normal Mexican restaurant. Service was not all that great, either. Again, if you want to pay more for Mexican food you can get cheaper, then go for it.
Really good food and had a great time. I was a little salted when I called earlier in the week and asked if I could do a reservation. The person on phone said we don’t take any reservations for any day . First come first serve. I had a party of 6.. we went for it since it was a little early at 5:00 thinking we best be better to beat the rush.. we’ll I get there and was told they are all reserved . I explained the situation of I thought you can’t. They said yes you can.. blah blah blah and the mgr gets us in within 30 min. So I’m happy they did that but was annoyed we were told no they don’t ever.. food was great but there needs to be training for the front receptionist .
visited this restaurant on a colleague recommendation and was not disappointed , queue at the door is always a good sign except for the fact you have to wait !! anyway good selection of food and drinks and some great spices as well!! all for very reasonable pricing for a downtown restaurant
Most of the food was delicious but there were a few things that just missed the mark. We came here with a group of 12 and they don’t take reservations, which is understandable. But we came in about two hours early hoping to put our name in and the hostess seemed really confused about the process and over complicated it. We just wanted to put our name down and sit in the lobby and wait for a table… But she just kept saying that she wouldn’t seat us until majority of our party was here. Anyway, after finally sitting down I tried to order a chili relleno since there were good reviews about them, but they were out. So disappointing! They were also out of chicken tamales which someone else in our group wanted to order. I ended up ordering the Molcajete and sharing it with someone. It was really good, but it came with rice and beans and the beans came in two small bowls which were filled with some kind of broth and approximately ten beans per cup… not kidding. I’m not sure why they skimped on the beans since they’re so ridiculously cheap, but I would recommend ordering refried beans instead if possible. I can’t say I’ll be in a big hurry to get back here since there are many other Mexican restaurants in the area and this one just didn’t stand out for me.
Food was good. Quick and efficient service. The hot sauce served on the side with the fajitas is VERY spicy. It also gets very busy so be ready to wait.
Excellent Mexican food restaurant in downtown SLC. Walking distance from the Salt Palace.... Had a great meal following a trade show tonight ..great presentation of authentic style Mexican food, Great preparation and flavor... Plenty of food and a very reasonable price.... We will be back... No doubt. Check it out .. well worth a try.
really good food good price great service definitely ?% recommended...
The food was amazing and the staff quick and efficient without loosing courtsey
Salsa and queso had hair in it. Both times we brought it up to the waitress who was nice. Someone very rude and snotty brought us new salsa and I believe a manager or owner came to our table to ask how everything was. My wife told her the hair experience she basically blamed us for it. Took no responsibility and still charged us for the queso. It was our first spot we tried visiting Utah and man was it a bad one.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. This was our second choice for dinner, but we ended up loving it. The food was authentic and very tasty. Also, I think my favorite part of my food was the presentation. Never have I seen a more beautiful Mexican dish served than here. I would come again.
