This has been a local favorite for well over a decade! Great food and friendly service. Even when busy we still get our food in a very reasonable time. The nachos supreme are amazing!!!!! Heaping piles of meat, cheese and guacamole. It is an appetizer and it's HUGE!If you plan to eat this for your main meal, it can feed 3-5 people easily. - so be warned, it's a lot of food. But it's absolutely delicious and worth getting!Their chimichanga, burritos and other main dishes also taste fantastic.

My dad said he used to come here when he was in high school thirty years ago. The decor is cool, the servers were very nice, and the food was yummy. They gave us sopapillas and they were delicious. My dad always gets the fried shrimp platter. I got the chimichangas. Things on the menu were around $10-15 which is very affordable for a dine-in restaurant!

The service and food were really good. The restaurant itself seems quaint but if you take a walk around it's really big! The food took between 10-15 minutes to come out but it was fresh and HOT. I had El Matador and the wifey had cheese enchiladas. I appreciated the classic rice and beans that didn't have a weird twist to them that you get other places. Overall it was just what I was looking for.

I've been coming here for years. The owners and staff are some of the nicest people ever. The food is amazing too. I never leave feeling hungry. I recommend the sopa dots!! They are delicious

We ordered takeout for my mom's birthday. 3 chicken burrito meals enchilada style and 1 taco salad. This is the 2nd time we ordered take out from them. I usually love their food but hardly any enchilada sauce on the chicken burritos either time and didn't come with tortilla chips. Other Mexican restaurants include tortilla chips with take out orders. We did get sopapillas with honey butter, they were delicious. The food was ready on time.

Waited in a booth for 15 min while the server waited on adjacent tables. Asked to be moved to another section. Waited for 10 more minutes after we were asked if we wanted cheese with our chips/salsa. Some patrons were seated near us. When we got our chips the server said she would be back to take our order, taking the salsa and cheese to the newly seated patrons. I do not pay for poor service so left. I have been going to El Matador regularly for 20 years. This is my last time and will discourage anyone from going here. NOT WORTH IT. One star only because you cannot leave anything less.

They were busy and service was short handed, minus the little extended wait time you would not notice. Service and food were great, drinks stayed full and food was hot and delicious. Great time, amazing atmosphere, do yourself a favor and try the soapia balls.

My partner loves Mexican food, so since we were just at Ogden Contemporary Arts at The Monarch, we decided to walk over. He loved his taco/enchilada/tostada combo, especially the enchilada sauce, and the chicken salad was a great "healthier" option for me (I avoided the sour cream and cheese). I had the oil and vinegar dressing, which was herbed and delicious, and the chicken was shredded and flavorful. And it came in a tortilla shell like the taco salad! Friendly server. Nice experience. Great prices.

I usually have a great experience at this restaurant, but would not recommend going here on a busy Saturday night. We waited 30 minutes for a table which was fine, but then another 20 minutes for the server to come take our order. Then she kept bringing us food we didn’t order, she kept going from table to table asking if this was their food. We ordered six meals and three of them were wrong. When we explained to her that we didn’t order this she got upset with us that we wouldn’t just take the plates she was bringing out. After a long long wait we finally were able to get the food we ordered. When we were done, I asked the server four times for our ticket, she kept forgetting to bring it out. Then after waiting at the table for another 15 minutes for the ticket a manager came and said she lost our ticket and that she would comp our six meals. I felt bad because I wanted to pay for what we ordered. I think the server was overwhelmed and could have used some help from the managers. Wouldn’t recommend going here when it is busy, unfortunately they can’t handle too many customers at one time.

Food made me sick, also friends food was too salty and tomato-y. Basically disappointed, good service, nice waitress However
