Hamburger Burgers Hot Dogs

We hadn't been here in years and decided to take our 4 kids tonight. The food was even better than my wife and I remembered. The burgers were fantastic and the kids cheese dogs were one of the best "kid" choices we've seen. The reason for 4, not 5 stars is because of the sides of fries. It looked like the fries must have run low in the kitchen and they were stretching them out as far as they could. We had 3 "baskets" and the quantity seemed close to 1 or 1 1/2. Seriously, it looked like they deliberately spread them out so that it at least looked like they covered more space.

Hires is a Utah original. Our family has been going to Hires for years. Fresh, delicious food. Their Big H is one of the best burgers in the state!

Great place for lunch, or dinner. Excellent food, burgers (Big H), fries, onion rings, & pizza. Hires Big H has been an institution in Salt Lake before I was born in 1956!

Came here thinking I was going to get a quality meal with a small-town taste at a reasonable price. All I got was overcharged for disappointment. Slow service, single word responses, no smiles, and bland food that harkens back to dollar menu quality from a fast food joint.

I love the food at Hires Big H. I have been coming here with my family for many years and I have never been disappointed. The food is all so fresh and tastes so much better than all the drive-ins.

My absolute favorite place to go. Best old fashion burger and fries! Very clean and great prices. Sooo Delicious ?

Hires has always been a family favorite. We are in Utah County and absolutely have to visit Hires whenever we go north. Wish they’d come down to our neck of the woods!

So this review is going to be a little different.First, there is A LOT of good about this place, but the prices are just too high for what they offer. This was our first time here because we had won a $50 giftcard. We had three adults and four kids and thought that a $50 giftcard would take care of most of the bill at a burger joint. But that was not the case. The staff is super friendly, and the food is really good. I ate the Big H Onion Combo with their Root Beer and finished it off with a Salted Caramel shake. All good food. But here is the thing, we were very strategic about which food we ordered, sharing food, etc, and the bill for us was still $100! I'm sorry, but there are plenty of burger joints that offer just as good food and do not charge $15 for a combo. So, while I think the staff is great, and the food tastes good, it is not worth what they charge.

Jessica. She is the reason I will come here. I just met her. I don’t know anything about her other than that she is the best, gave the best customer service, she made us laugh, and she made up for a rough experience I had at the downtown Hires Big H. I think I’m probably going to choose to come here only when she works. She managed to upsell me on a bunch of things, which normally, when I’m on a diet, I don’t like. But I’m pretty sure I’m not going to regret this. Also, I saw some woman walk in with a lot of pickles. So I stuck my head out of the car and said “Jessica, could you please get me a pickle?“ And she did. That is customer service. That was absolutely amazing.I probably won’t come back when there are other servers working. Because I really only want to have this level of customer service. It was absolutely amazing. And while I am still waiting for my food, dictating this in the car, much to the enjoyment of the other people in the car, I’m pretty sure that the food is going to be great.I don’t think I’ve ever met another server who enjoyed his or her job so much. We got information about secret items on the menu. Actually, she told us they weren’t secret, but that they were on the menu on the inside. I guess the outside menu hasn’t been updated to include their vast quantity of new offerings. She also recommended getting the bread toasted if you were going to get any sort of sandwich as opposed to a burger. She explained the reasons for this, including the softness of the bread and the local-ness of the obtaining of the bread I guess. They get it from somewhere down the road. Somewhere famous, she told us. I can’t remember. But if I ask her again, I’m sure she’ll tell us. Because she’s that good.In fact, if you go, just save yourself the woes of having to decide. Ask for Jessica. And then tip well. And then, enjoy your food. Also, if you are outside feel free to turn off your lights. Especially if you are in a big truck. There’s some dude from Idaho who is blinding me right now.Full disclosure: I have never met Jessica before today. I have no idea where she’s from. Her accent appears to be local. I’m not related to her. But with someone that cool, I kind of wish I was.

My first time here. Had high expectations but was disappointed. Everything looked fantastic and the textures were all great, crispy onion rings, etc. But overall I feel everything lacked flavor. Oh, I had the Reuben.
