Stopped in with a tour group. Limited time to eat. Food came out quickly. (Ice was so good for our drinks.)
I usually love Juniper. I drive all the way from Smithfield to eat there the food is that good. Second time I picked up my order and no sauces were in the bag! I get times are tough and everyone is struggling to keep employees but this is something simple that they shouldn’t have missed. What’s turkey steak without the tarter sauce!!!! Not a very happy customer today! Check for sauces before leaving with your to go orders.
First time eating here! We tried the hamburger macaroni soup, scalloped potatoes and turkey steak.All were delicious. We will be back next time we are in town. Helpful employees too.
The food is generally very good and all my requests are listened to. So I appreciate that. My problem is they hardly answer the phone whenever I try calling. Like this evening for example (03/04/2022), I tried calling over 5+ times. Then it got to the point where I know they were deliberately hanging up on me. It rang once and then the call ended. Just unprofessional & uncalled for. If you're busy, I understand but the least you could do is take 5 seconds to let me know you can't answer the phone.?♀️
So I personally didn't have an issue with the food my self. However, 3 of the 6 people in our group ordered Gluten-Free options off the menu and all ended up becoming sick. One of them was violently I'll and almost had to go to the hospital for dehydration. I would advise to watch out, and would hope that management would see this review and make sure that the kitchen is not cross contaminating or anything else that could make people ill.
We used to go there for the gluten free menu, but they charge double for gluten free food now, which is ridiculous. Turkey Steak Sandwich $6.59 vs $11.97. Gluten free buns are about $1.00 extra.

I know many people like the food here. I was kinda let down tbh. Two times I've ordered something different and was disappointed. Yes it's bland and maybe still a little warm when it gets to you as other reviews have stated. I wouldn't advise any of my friends to eat here. Also you can't cal cooked ground beef "steak" that's a burger patty Try again, Juniper.
The food here tastes...wholesome. Not bad by any stretch, and definitely a bit different than most places. I'm just not sure if I'd ever pick it over some other places we have here as far as gluten free is concerned, unless I really wanted a roll. They DO have excellent GF dinner rolls. Overall feels a bit pricey for what it is, but still better than your average chain.
Haven't sat down to eat here, but our pickup orders taste great. Love the fried green beans.
