Used to have daily specials or at least Taco Tuesdays. Food is still really good and have some unique options and differentiators like hand made fresh tortillas. But removed the self serve drink flavorings and nickel and dime for extra sauces.
Is it just us or is Cafe Rio struggling lately? The last 4 times we’ve been the sweet pork has been off and different each time. Tonight it was very dry, like a bad Sunday pot roast. The beans and rice were undercooked and the tortillas were rock hard. We’re thinking it’s CostaVida from here on out ?
We decided to take our 3 little kids inside to eat tonight. While in line my daughter had to use the restroom. That was so gross like it hasn't been cleaned in a week. Even the hand dryer was so filthy. We went and sat down. Mind you all the tables were gross and weren't wiped down. When we found an ok spot we saw a kid with a rag so we asked him to wipe the table down which he did a horrible job at after he rolled his eyes at us. Sitting down I noticed the floor was filthy. We were so grossed out by how dirty it was we threw our food away and left and went elsewhere. Last time we will be back.
I FOUND A BEATLE IN MY SALAD! Absolutely disgusted. Terrible and inexcusable. Before thinking this is a one-off, scroll through and see the other comments— I wish I had prior!
we placed our order at 6:00 with a pickup time of 6:40 and when we got there they were behind (which normally is fine I get they're busy) but when we finally received our food at 7:05 it was only half of our order. After going up to the counter to let them know, they told us they were out of chips and couldn't get us the nachos we ordered ahead of time. So instead of calling and telling us that or even talking to us since we sat in the restaurant waiting for it for 20 min, they notified us after we said something about them missing and they just said we'll refund you for the nachos instead of asking if they could make something else.
My order was 7:10, it wasn’t ready until 7:50. I counted about 20 people at a time that were also waiting for their order. It would have been nice if a free drink was offered for the wait. The workers were all sipping on theirs…but nothing was ever said about the long wait by any of the workers. I also paid extra for sauce and cheese on my burrito and got none. It was also very soggy because the beans were not drained, there was a lot of bean juice all over everything.
Found a bug in our food after eating half of it of course! I called the restaurant to speak with the manager. A girl claiming to be the shift leader acted like it was kinda funny and no big deal and said she would have the manager call me. I haven't heard from anyone yet and its been almost a week. I will NEVER go back to this or any other Cafe Rio.
I want to start with a disclaimer that I love Cafe Rio's food (in other locations), so I'm not just out to get Cafe Rio!It is not clean at all in there, and one time we went and got giant chunks of salt in our rice. Manager gave us a free meal for next time and replaced our meal, but when we asked if a new batch of rice has been made for the replaced meals, he said no and that he had just picked the salt pieces out of our meals.Service isn't wonderful there either..Another time we went a few minutes before close which I'll admit isn't the kindest, but I've worked at a restaurant and even customers who come at the end are expected to be treated with respect. We were basically reprimanded by an employee (who said it was his last day) and told us that we were being blatantly rude/disrespectful. They way he said it too wasn't kind at all.. i can understand him saying it kindly, but it was super sassy. Again, as someone who has worked in a restaurant before, I know that coming right before closing is annoying, but as a customer I expect to be treated kindly from open to close on your first day or your last.
Always good. CPD is righteous. Make sure you get the tomatillo ranch with whatever you order, even if it’s not a salad. Chips and queso is also excellent. Add in a tres leches and you have the best meal ever.
Always like this place. I got a shredded chicken burrito and it was great! My only complaint is that my food wasn't hot?enough. But I like my food really hot.
