I was very disappointed with my visit to Nielsen‘s tonight. I understand that prices have gone up, but the concretes have gotten much smaller than they used to be. I was handed two “concretes” (if you can call them that), that were soupy. They were in small clear plastic cups this time. The employee handed them to me and custard was dripping out of the cups all over and another employee said “we don’t really have lids, do you want me to dump some out for you?”. I was speechless because of how absurd the question was. I had concretes melting all over me in the car. They tasted good, but for $7/piece, smaller cups, and milkshake consistency, I will hesitate to return. Sad that a good thing has gone very downhill!

***Update*** Thank you for the quick response. We are all about second chances. We aren’t in Layton a lot but will come back to use our coupon at some point and appreciate your apology regarding the miscommunication.Showed up with a two for one coupon and they wouldn’t honor it even though we paid for the coupon as part of a package deal. Yummy concretes here, but we won’t be going back…

Eh can't say much. Ordered a PB custard but the taste and flavor are the same as a regular ice cream at a grocery store.

Two words...disgusting and expensive! My family of five went in for some food and custard. We ordered 5 concrete custards, 3 orders of mozzerella sticks, one cheeseburger, one fry, one drink, one grilled cheese, and a roastbeef grinder. Total cost $76! Wow! The custards are now $6.50 a piece!Custards came out first and were good. The rest of the meal was awful. The grinder was drenched in mayonaise...couldn't eat it. The grilled cheese was made out if a handburger bun (backwards so you couldn't tell)....cheese wasn't even melted. The mozzarella sticks were not melted and cold in the center.Run by a bunch of teenagers..no adult supervision. They remade part of the meal. The whole time I wished we would've gone to Culver's. Don't waste your money here!

I have always loved this place. Well not this one particularly. I grew up by the one in Bountiful. This one is more of a hidden gem tho. No where near as busy as the Bountiful location, but all the great custards and food. Check them out, they certainly never disappoint!

I suggest not getting the Sunday at Nielsen's Frozen Custard. Look at picture below. My Sunday cost $6.10 my husband's concrete coat $6.40. Moral of story: Sunday's aren't worth the money!

Ordered two concrete mixers. The top was mixed, but that left half of it in just vanilla custard. Pretty disappointing. Complicating the issue was they were small shakes, so it was even less effort to make them correctly. Sad. I love Nielsen's. I just have come to expect more from their businesses.

Mike is AWESOME. Super nice and amazing service from him. We decided to come here after not knowing what to eat. Best onion rings I’ve ever had! 10/10 would recommend

I love Nielsen's Custard!! My favorite place to eat. The sandwiches are fabulous and I always get Chocolate Concrete with cherries in it. Mmmm, so mouth watering good!!!

Good tastes- BUT!!I am really really confused.I’ve been coming there for probably over 20 years.I just stoped by to get ya a couple grinder sandwiches and treat myself with my regular chocolate concrete that I always order with strawberries and cashews. My jaw dropped when the guy held the ice cream up to the window in the cup look like it was three or 4 inches tall.I said where is the regular cup and he said these are the ones we always use. Then a lady comes up behind him and says it’s the same size cup as always. Then the guy tries to tell me we always fill them up to the top which this one wasn’t.Normally I always have the ice cream cup dropped into a bigger cup because it’s always overflowing it will run down the sides.I brought it home and measured it, not counting for the half inch of empty space below the bottom of the cup – the overall cup height is exactly 4 inches. It’s got to be about half the size of normal and these guys tried to argue with me this is how it’s always been.I don’t know which is worse, spending $5.90 for a cup of custard —BEFORE— I add the toppings to it, or them telling me that this TINY-half size cup is what they’ve always done.I call complete and total BS.-And here’s the pictures to prove it.And for what it’s worth, I understand it in today’s world prices need to go up, which honestly I would be fine with. But don’t cut my product down and still charge me the same rate and expect me to think that it’s the same thing when I know perfectly well it’s not.I would be happy to pay a little more to get the same thing I always have. Very unsatisfactory.
