Arrogant owners have no interest in tourism or the much-more-important farmers market. They hire a fat constable to kick visitors off their sacred parking lot. Fail. What losers.
I waited a long time for my food today. Server walked by several times and did not offer more coffee even though I was sitting on an empty cup. When I finally got my pancakes, they were cold. Butter didn’t even melt. Not coming here again.
they are dishonest! after the waitress gave me my receipt, i looked over it and gave her my debit card, it stated $25.22. when she bought my card back with the new receipt, it was a different amount. she had ran my card with an extra 98 cents on it. i was very angry and told her this. her reply was if I had paid cash, they would not have charged me a processing fee. I ask her how was I suppose to know that. her reply was everyone charges processing fees and also, they have a small note on the front door, my reply was, why should i have to read notes on the front door. when we checked the note, it is a very small note that states, "Pay with cash. prices advertised reflect cash payment. thank you for your patronage. No where does it state or reflect that they are going to charge you a processing fee. this fee is merely a way for the owner to line his pocket with extra money from unsuspecting people. I did call him and voiced my dislike of their fraudulent behavior toward their customers and that I wanted my money back. his reply to me was, that if I went and got cash and bought it back, he would credit my debit card back. yeah right! how about you dont defraud your customers in the first place. also, I have a picture of the note on the door and they wouldnt give me my original receipt that showed 25.22. when I ask for it, they refused to give it to me. definently wont be going back to this place. FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD AND VERY DISHONEST BEHAVIOR!
After a recent unexpected trip to Waco to visit a passing family member, my wife found this wonderful spot along our way. Unfortunately, we went on a weekend where a marathon was blocking the entire area so getting there was a little tedious, but ample parking once we arrived. We were looking at the online menu on the way and I’ll admit, there was some concern about it being so large. I’ve found, in my experience, that a smaller menu allows the cooks to specialize in a few items while larger menus are more “IHOP like” with meh food since the cooks are basically an assembly line. That was NOT the case here! The omelette I ordered was delicious and pancake on the side was larger than the actual plate. It should have read “pancake with a side of omelette”. My wife’s Belgian waffle was just as good and the waitress even offered to make my son’s large pancake into two smaller ones, which was very nice.Speaking of the staff…lighting fast service as soon as we walked in the door and just as you would expect in Texas, service with a smile.I could not have been happier dining here and even though we drove all the way from Austin, I would gladly return.
The food here was pretty good and I might go again, but the wait times were incredibly long for how busy things were inside. I highly suggest you get-in-line on the website before going over unless you want to stand around a half hour. They had a good selections of tea and the banana nut French toast was interesting. My wife loved her breakfast burrito and it was quite large. It was a good way to start the day.If it were up to me I'd knock out the half walls and add bar-style seating at the counter, then they didn't have to waste big tables on parties of 1. That said, the long wait may be attributable to going on Sunday, it seems a surprising number of restaurants in that area are closed Sundays, leaving few choices to anyone visiting the city. I've no doubt if literally any other restaurant opened for Sunday breakfast they would do well and help alleviate the long wait times everywhere else.
The Mexican scramble - delicious. The pecan gingerbread pancake - beyond delicious! White chocolate cappuccino - outstanding!
Good food, slow service.Front of house seemed disorganized. As a busy breakfast came on at 9 AM, it was evident the restaurant could have carried more business if they had been more efficient seating people and taking orders. The kitchen was not slow, as once we had placed our orders, the food came out within about 10 minutes. The hostess did not know where to seat us without consulting someone else. Then it took 10 minutes for someone to ask for our drink order. The waitress should have realized we were on a time limit when we asked for our drinks in to-go cups (the barista didn't get that info). Then it took 15 more minutes to get a food order. After we were done, it took a special request, 20 minutes, and another request to get our tab and to-go boxes. A meal that usually takes about 35 minutes from start to finish took 1 hour and 10 minutes. And they didn't even seem short-staffed, except for a good FOH manager.Pancakes were good. Hot links were surprisingly good. Bacon was cooked well. My over easy egg was done perfectly. All serving sizes were a good portion. Coffee drinks needed more espresso.
Waco is lacking in breakfast places. Particularly ones that are open on a Sunday. Had breakfast with friends. Standard breakfast fair. Was good. Can get very busy deepening on what’s going on in town.
I’m not quite sure how this place has such high reviews. Very disappointed they had canned fruit. Our French toast sandwich and crescent sandwiches seemed warmed up and not fresh. We also shared a cinnamon roll which was not homemade.
Best eggs benny around. Will be back soon!
