We came in today and our server was overloaded. It wasn't her fault but it was almost possible to tend to a large table plus the other tables seated in her area. As an outsider it appeared there was help available but again that is just as an insider. She was kind and we appreciated her hard work. I hope she is recognized for that.The food is what the 2 stars are about. Very bland. The seafood all tasted the same that we ordered which is usually a negative sign of quality. The catfish came out and some were literally broken peices from an already small peice. The best things were the fries and the fact the soda machine was running good.We were disappointed because we have came there for years and quality has declined slowly and now to a point that we will probably stop visiting for a while. It's a shame because the location is a gem and so catchy. But, if you're going to be about seafood let's get after it. Hopefully there is a change in the kitchen that can take the food back up to how it was.
HORRIBLE SERVICE AND STAFF!!!!The only reason I'm giving 5 stars is the food!!!From our arrival the hostess (a guy and a girl) were unfriendly and rude. Not a good face for such a popular restaurant. Our waiter Taylor was incredibly slow to even greet us at the table. We had to wait another 20 min just to order the appitizers, when they finally arrived the crab cakes were good, the crawfish queso was good but the chips were stale absolutely gross told waiter he didn't care nor did he bring us new ones. It took another 25 min to get him to come back to our table so we could order our dinner. We had the Mardi Gras Pasta and the Seafood Jambalaya which were amazingly good which is why this gets 5 stars. Back to the waiter his service was absolutely horrible very unhelpful not attentive at all. We've been here several times and this is the worst service we've ever had.
Food and staff was great. Our waiter was very helpful with suggestions for drinks and food. Hubby had the Cajun trio which included a cup of chicken/sausage jambalaya, seafood gumbo and a small piece of blackened catfish filet. He really enjoyed. I had the Shrimp & Grits. The grits were a very small and dry portion. The saving grace was the spinach/parm topper.
We met some friends for lunch on a day that the high temp was supposed to be 100+…not usually the best time to sit on a patio. But when we got there, we took a chance. This patio had fans and misters that kept the temp super comfortable. The service was great, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was delicious. I ordered shrimp and grits—it was plated beautifully, and the taste was incredible! We will definitely be back.
Buzzard Billy's provided the perfect venue to celebrate our son's graduation from Baylor University. We opted for the 3 course dinner with wine pairings and the meal and wine was outstanding! Our many thanks to Becky Lindsey, Thomas, and the wait staff for their attentiveness and effort to make this event truly memorable.
We arrived late in the evening and they were very accommodating. The three of us enjoyed Brisket, Catfish, and Cajun Sausage. They have such a fun atmosphere and the food was some of the best we had during out stay in Waco.
We love coming to Buzzard Billy’s it’s a little bit difficult to get to with all of the new roads and construction in down town Waco but this place is defiantly worth it. There is indoor and outdoor dinning, we love sitting outside in a nice day and letting the kids through fish food to the ducks, fish and turtles swimming under the dock while we wait for our meals.
Placed our order then advised no BBQ on Tuesday. Ordered blackened and did not come back as blackened. However, everything we ate was very good, just not as ordered.
Nice atmosphere. We sat on the back deck and watched the turtles and fish swim in the river below. My wife had Ahi and I had blackened shrimp. Both were very good.
Every time we come to Waco we eat at Buzzard Billy’s. Have always enjoyed the experience. Great food, awesome service and fun atmosphere with a view of the river. This time we were fortunate to meet a great couple that made our experience even nicer. Highly recommend it.
