My sister lives in Victoria and she suggested we try this place. It was sooo good. We are from New Orleans and I've never eaten bbq as good as this. I recommend anyone that lives in Victoria or just traveling through to try the food. We had brisket, sausage, and chicken. And a big side of green beans. They taste just like fresh snap beans. The Mumford family and workers are very nice people. Thanks for your hospitality!
I had the sausage plate with potato salad and coleslaw. Everything was great. The potato salad had a sweet flavor that was unusual but good. The decor is neat. The staff is friendly.
If you are in, near or around Victoria Texas give yourself a treat, stop here. We drove 2 1/2 hours from the Houston airport to have the BBQ ribs at this place and boy oh boy they did not disappoint. This place serves solid barbecue with that black crispy bark that crunches as you bite into the meat with a soft tasting center. It seems like many barbecue places that we had been to serve sides almost as if they are an afterthought, but not at Mumford’s. His string beans were smokey with. hint of salt were so tasty I ordered second portions. Creamy potato salad with a touch of vinegar from mustard was a nice accompaniment to the smoky flavors. Richard walked around the dining room talking to his patrons, mostly locals, showing so much pride for this restaurant. He even graciously gave us a tour of the smoke house. The aroma of Oak and Mesquite used to smoke the meats enhanced our BBQ experience.
Awesome food and wonderfully nice people. Drove by on our way to another restaurant and the smell made us turn around. Soooooo glad it did. Great chicken and turkey and very reasonable prices. Super fast and lots of sauce too.
On great advice from a few friends and husband, I finally had the chance to try this. Given that we drove the food back 2 hours, this food was amazing, I went with pork, chicken, turkey and brisket. With a side order of green beans and potato salad. The sauce that they make, you can drink, sooooo good. I highly recommend this place
Absolutely WONDERFUL service, food and atmosphere! The brisket is THE BOMB, the ribs were everything they should have been and more......and the Green Beans were phenomenal! All the other sides were were uniquely their own, and DELICIOUS! Can't wait to make it back again, thanks for lunch y'all!?
Excellent BBQ with terrific sides. I cook competition BBQ and know my way around a pit. This BBQ was cooked correctly with a great flavor profile. The sauce was amazing. Definitley stop by if your in the area.
Really nice BBQ place. One of the best BBQ we had so far on our trip. We got the recommendation from e guy from LA who know his BBQ and the best places to go. We really enjoyed the amazing meat and the beans are the perfect side for the delicious brisket and sausage. Staff was so nice and welcoming!!!
Dropped in while driving through Victoria. Old Bar-B-Q place with tons of character and obvious history. Counter service with table delivery. Simple menu of the basics (brisket, sausage, Turkey, ribs, etc.) with a few standard sides (Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Beans, etc.) Nothing fancy on this menu, just straight forward barbecue. All of our meats were outstanding and service was friendly. Definitely worth a meal or more here!
Place had great reviews so I tried it while passing through town. I'm guessing I must've gotten a bad batch of brisket because it did not taste smoked but rather like charcoal. No way it could be this popular if it always tasted like that. Service was great and friendly.
