I have been here a few times but it has been over 10 years. We had a long wait, longer than they said. When we got seated, it looks like they didn't have the staff needed to run the restaurant. The food also was not like it use to be. I was disappointed.
Best service, food and atmosphere in San Antonio. An iconic family business that is a must go to place for locals and tourists. Visit the market and bakery. You can’t go wrong at Mi Tierra.
This is a tourist trap. The decorations are beautiful and draw you in. Then you get a menu with prices and offerings rivaling mid-high quality authentic Mexican restaurants. However, once you order, you have been played. The food they serve you is worse than school cafeteria food. Honestly! I work at a school! The low quality can be seen and tasted. It’s garbage! I am not that picky or critical, but this is garbage! I actually feel angry that I was duped! My family would have been far more satisfied eating at Taco Bell and I would have saved sooo much money. Don’t fall for this trap and stop allowing this practice to succeed. Why the good reviews? On google reviews someone mentioned that their critical review was taken down! Take a look at the $10 nachos. Like 8 chips covered in canned, thick, dried out, refined beans and cheddar cheese. What a rip-off! My taco meat was nasty. Not even sure it was meat. Just low quality all around. Disappointed does not go far enough. I am angry.
Best Breakfast tacos!! Alvacado salsa is great!!
I happen to work security at Market Square. I ordered a plate to go, while there I also paid for fellow officers bill, the bill was $43 I added $8 tip without adding total, she came back and said I needed to add total, I had cash so I was giving her $8. While handing her the money, she says total was $74. All this time she never smiled, none of the were friendly. I think she’s one of the thieves braking into the shops. I work overnights at market square and I see lots of roaches, it wouldn’t surprise me if they ended up in the food.
Superb. Almost felt the need to lick the plate. Fantastic service and a fair price. Huevos Ranchero superb.
The restaurant was thoroughly underwhelming in every regard. The setting is festive enough but the service and the food rather mediocre, especially for vegetarians or vegans (or food allergies) — to their credit it seems they try to accommodate these needs and/or preferences, but the end result is simply deleting queso or sauce or other important components of the dish — my wife is vegetarian and has a dairy allergy, and her entree ended up as partially cooked vegetables in a tortilla. YMMV.
The food was fabulous. The decor is precious. The bakery is so delicious and cheap!! We bought 7 desserts and paid less than $13. Their Strawberry and cream puffs were so good we went back and bought more.
A very famous spot indeed, so we stopped for some bakery items. The wait for tables was insane and the bakery line wasn't much better, but they kept things moving pretty well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The tres leches cake was amazing. The bakery section as a whole has something for everybody!
This restaurant was recommended by locals and was everything you would expect from a authentic Mexican restaurant in Mexico. The attached bakery has some great goodies in case you want to take something back for later and the staff is amazing! Be prepared for a wait, the word is out and it gets busy.
