It was a great experience the waitress Brooke was very respectful and kind. Amazing service and great food!! If you go to walk ons in Tyler Texas ask for the waitress Brooke:)
So, I generally don't like loud and boisterous restaurants. And Walk-On's is loud and boisterous. But I'm not going to dock them any points for that. It clearly says "sports bar" on the outside, so I knew what to expect walking in.I figured the music would be loud and energetic, and that there would be a million TV's lining all the walls. And yup, that's what I got. What I didn't expect: A bona fide amazing Louisianian-themed restaurant masquerading as a sports bar. But that's what I got!Looking over the cocktails menu, the drinks are a bit pricey--over $10 for most everything I saw. But, luckily, it was Sunday happy hour, so I got a perfectly decent bloody Mary for $5.00I started with the "Devils on Horseback"-- fried shrimp with bacon, creamed cheese and jalapenos. These were incredible. The shrimp were huge, and generously wrapped in bacon. There was just enough jalapeno and cream cheese to add a touch of flavor, but not enough to overwhelm the taste of the shrimp. These were served with some kind of sweet and spicy sauce that paired well. For the main course, I had the "Redfish Rudy"--blackened redfish, with warm tomato salsa and Louisiana street corn. The redfish was delicate, without too much spice (which I was a touch surprised at, as blackened dishes tend to be a bit overloaded with spice). The delicate fish meat paired very well with the tang of the hot tomatoes and cilantro of the salsa. The dish was good as it was, but was improved a bit with a dash of Tobasco. After the spicy drink and shrimp, I felt more spice was needed to bring the fish up to the same flavor profile. My server, Kyla, was very attentive and respectful--every request was met with a "yes sir." You don't hear that often these days, and it was nice.I spent around $40 for the drink appetizer and seafood. A bit more than one would expect walking into a sports bar, but perfectly in line with the amazing meal I had. They have other dishes on the menu that I'm looking forward to trying in the future.
We ordered thru Waitr for Walk ons. We ordered a side waffle fries, dinner portion red beans and rice, and the Avery island salad. The waffle fries were good, little cold but that’s to be expected with take out. I really enjoyed the salad, however the shrimp were bland so I dipped them in the dressing. The red beans and rice was good also, BUT even though I paid for a full size portion, what we received was in a small plastic container. We’ve eaten this before in the restaurant and it was a lot more, which made think the portion size is less when it’s take out because of the available containers they put liquid type foods in. Altogether, I’d order from here again.
While the server was nice, we were shocked how pricing had stayed the same, and the portions had gotten smaller. This meal was $12....could have gotten more food than this PLUS a drink at whataburger. Also the drink we ordered was not made correctly and tasted like straight ginger out of a can.I emailed the company after they responded to my review, and never heard back. Figures.
Pros:1) Good menu variety2) Tasty fries3) Large portion size4) Tasty fries5 ) Wait staff is super attentive6) Adult grilled cheese is well madeCons:1) Fried pickles are very oily compared to other places2) Burger Pattie’s have very little flavor - they need more seasoning or flavorful burger toppings. The overall burger flavor was lacking2b) I got the stuffed burger, and it was clearly two Pattie’s with the stuffing sandwiches in between them, so not really any different than a “double”
There’s no wait. Our waitress was nice and very attentive. She seemed happy every time I saw her. Our food was hot and delicious.
My husband and I and our son and his family ate here for lunch -- horrible , overpriced. I got a chicken club sandwich but it wasn't a club sandwich like I have ever had. There was two chicken breasts piled on top of each other with a small bun. I couldn't even find the bottom of the bun --there was small piece of avocado , tomato, and lettuce. I had to try to eat it with a fork after cutting it in half. It was a hot mess. The waitress saw I was displeased and I told her so but no substitution was offered . Not even a commit or I'm sorry from the waitress. No refills on our drinks offered or given. Every one else that ordered was so disappointed . What a waste of food and money All I can say is find another place to eat this one isn't worth it .
We love their food! If you love a really good salad & you love shrimp, try the Zydeco salad, I’m addicted to it! Shrimp & grits and Bayou shrimp & linguini was great. Also the bread pudding was good & enough for 4!
great food and a good game to watch
The food was good but the waitress wasnt. It's was happy hour & she never told us.. I happen to be watching the screen & that's how we found out. So after ordering she says, the things you ordered it's not on our happy hour. ? By the way, the drinks are OVER PRICED!!!
