Our first visit to Traditions did not disappoint. We were not expecting to see a cafeteria line since there aren’t many anymore, but we were pleasantly surprised. The Sunday crowd was large, but the line moved along at a moderate pace. My husband got the seafood pasta while I had the honey ham with dressing, cranberry sauce, and gravy. Those items along with our sides were delicious. The portions were generous, and the price of $43 was reasonable for the amount of food we received, The restaurant was clean with ample seating for the after church crowd. The service was good and the employees friendly. Since we live in Kilgore, we can easily go back and we will. Thank you, Traditions, for an excellent down home meal.
I so hate to write this negative review but to save others from the experience we had this evening I feel it necessary. Food was mildy warm at best and it appeared most had been kept warm after a likely small lunch crowd. Deserts were such a different taste than what you would expect and not in a good way. If you have to eat here for some reason go with a veggie plate, hard to mess that up.Suggestion to MGMT, close during the week as I am sure by the lack of customers we saw your bound to be losing money. Open on weekends so food is fresher, and consider a new chef or food distributor as there is no traditional flavor in the foods being served.
This was my first time there, and I wonder why I've been passing by without stopping. The food, service and atmosphere was great. Staff was friendly and professional.
The food was pretty good. The staff was friendly. Prices seemed a little high unless you strictly got the special 'plates'. Probably won't be going back anytime soon, just because the quality of the food was subpar to the price I paid. $50 for two adult meals and inside salads and dessert. It's a cafeteria, not a steakhouse.
I hadnt been to Traditions in a years. To me the food was bland. The food isn't as bland a it use to be. It was seasoned well today.
Traditions has good food and the employees were amazing. On May 14, 2022, I rented the larger room for a graduation dinner and wedding proposal. Everything was great from the food to the service. I recommend Traditions for any occasion.
I love Traditions, they are friendly, good food, they will serve you in any area you need assistance with. It’s more like a family atmosphere.
I think the diners come to this place for the building. It's a beautiful building and has a nice ambiance. BUT - I opted for the $14 plate, which is a meat and 2 sides, because my husband was going to eat the beef roast. All of the food was COLD. It was somewhere between 1:00 and 1:30, so I'd say don't show up after the lunch hour. If I ever went there again, which I won't, I'd go at 11:00-11:30, because the food has no chance to get cold at that time. The roast was pretty bland, didn't seem seasoned much, and the brown gravy didn't seem to have been made from the roasts. It was OK, but then what gravy can ever seem good that is cold. However, I did enjoy munching on my cold corn muffin, since the rest of the meal just didn't interest me. The prices are high for what you get. There are much better places to eat. I was disappointed, because I really liked the looks of the restaurant - and the roses outside!
The food is very. Nice place to eat at friendly staff
We went to this restaurant because it was within walking distance of our hotel. The price was fair and there were a lot of choices, but the food was not to our liking - my husband had a roasted chicken portion with a dressing of sorts and carrots as a veg. I had what was supposed to be a salmon croquette but I honestly could not taste the salmon, it was mostly bread crumbs.
