Our chef, Cody was so nice and witty. It was his birthday but he gave us the present! Everyone in our party had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection! The staff even came by and sang happy birthday to our friend who was celebrating her birthday.

Excellent FOOD… chief was awesome!!! Funny interesting, incredible cook…Cody the chief … Ask for him…

Even was a great created of our food had lots of fun

Great atmosphere, plenty of Happy people in there. Great little front end sushi bar garnered with a lovely fish tank. It boasts a separate bar area, and separate hibachi and main dining areas. The food was Way Better that Expected. Such a Diamond ? to find in the “Rough” of Tyler, Tx.

The food is okay I got a Long Island Iced teas and it was SO weak. I asked for a stronger one and got told that even if I took a single drink they are going to charge me for that drink. A $10 drink and I didn't get to enjoy it in the least bit because it was made so poorly. It's very upsetting that they wouldn't do anything about that. Then the food came out and it was just okay, the rice was a little hard and my meat was over cooked. Lord forbid I ask for different one they would have charged me for that too. I'm very disappointed and won't be coming back.

I've only lived in Tyler a few months, and with it being a smaller town, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find good sushi here. I couldn't have been more wrong--there's a number of good spots! And Shogun is on that list.I usually sit at the sushi bar, so that I can watch the food being made and chat with the sushi chef. Sometimes, the chefs are all business. But the head chef at Shogun will often take some time to chat, which is nice. The tuna looked especially good tonight, so I had that. It was every bit as fresh as it looked. I paired it with some eel, which was moist, sweet, and succulent. These are favorites that I like to order regularly anywhere I go.But I also like trying new things, so I also got the Cajun Roll and the Tequila Roll. The Cajun Roll was delicious, with spicy tuna on the inside, and various fish on top and a spicy mayo sauce. But the Tequila roll was something special.I didn't look super closely at what all was in it, and I wish I had. Next time, for sure. I've never had sushi topped with cilantro before, and I was a bit leery about it. But it was a flavor combination that worked really well. And if you're not one of those people whose unfortunate genetics make cilantro taste like soap, I would highly recommend you try it if you haven't.

Had the classic sashimi and, I think, the red dragon roll. The sashimi/food/hot sake quality was excellent and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner; She was an excellent individual and deserves the recognition. If you're in/around Tyler, TX, this is the place to have sushi/drinks.

My hubby and I went to eat tonight and we had the best experience. Our cook Evan was the best ever. Best ever show we have seen. Our waiter Jack was very nice and kept our drinks full and was very attentive. Five Stars, Two thumbs up, loved the whole experience and atmosphere.

We used to love coming here. The sushi is good. It used to be great. What is worse is the service staff. I understand the service industry has gone down the drain, but when you are greeted at the door by someone without social skills and all they can say is "yes? How can I help you?" We are in a restaurant, so perhaps she thought I was looking for a haircut? The most deplorable part was her glib attitude. Our server was not much better, and, of course, no thank you by the two little girls at the door as we were leaving. But the woman who I believe is one of the owners, we have had conversations with her multiple times on past visits, could joke around with them instead of taking care of the guests. We used to go there weekly. Then we went to every few weeks, now every few months. I guess now we move on. I wish them luck.

The parking leaves a lot to be desired. Once you find a spot and make it inside the lobby is fairly small. If weather is nice you can hangout on the patio, but if weather is bad you are cramped into a tiny space until your table is ready.
