Hostesses had some sort of drama happening. Older woman with white hair and a younger lady with long braids had some issue with each other that made it so they weren’t even taking names. We tried to go here for Father’s Day (during lunch rush) so you would think they would be a bit more organized. After a bit of us waiting for someone to ask us if we would like a table and watching these two duke it out, the older woman walked off and the younger lady hadn’t even looked in our direction. We left to go to Outback, probably won’t be revisiting here. Management needs to get their employees together.
Had a hankering for steak tonight, so I stopped at Saltgrass. It's a casual dining chain, but maybe a bit pricier than other restaurants operating in that zone. It's got kind of that "corporate marketing shabby decor" thing going on, where someone has studied and focus-grouped the perfect 'homey restaurant' look, down to the fake weathered paneling, and the carefully curated 'Texas decor' on the walls. But, you know, I don't really care about all that. The place was clean, looked decent enough, and ultimately, it's about the food and the service.I had a 6oz sirloin, salad, fried mushrooms and a baked potato along with a "Ranch Water" (Topo Chico sparkling water, tequila and lime juice). The Ranch Water wasn't crazy boozy, but it had a nice mild tequila and lime flavor floating underneath the sparkling water. It was nice and refreshing. The steak was well seasoned and perfectly done--on one side. You can see from my pictures, the bottom half was much more on the rare side than medium rare. I don't absolutely require my steaks to be 100% perfect--I like a wide range of done-ness (so long as it's not way over done), so I didn't send it back, and it tasted just fine. But it's something to be aware of if you're a bit more finicky than I am.The bread was warm, squishy soft and tasty. The potato--well, it was a potato. It wasn't shriveled from sitting all night in a warm drawer somewhere, which is my biggest complaint when I get baked potatoes from a restaurant. You know they're precooked, because nobody has time to sit for an hour for a potato to cook. But, at some point, the kitchen manager has to declare the potatoes a loss when they've sat there too long. This one was fine.I especially liked the fried mushrooms. So often, they're soggy. These were crisp and tasty, with a good amount of flavoring in the coating. The only thing that really kept this from being a great meal was the ambience. They had the music up *way* too loud. Like "sports bar" loud. Which means everyone around me had to raise their voices to have conversation. This made for a somewhat irritating and unpleasant atmosphere.
Restaurant was clean and inviting. Hostess immediately greeted us and took us to a table. Waiter was quick and attentive. Full menu with plenty of steak and chicken choices. They provide a loaf of bread and tasty butter as appetizer. We shared a ribeye with salad and loaded mashed potatoes. Salad was cold and crisp but the dressing or croutons were very salty. Steak was cooked as ordered and had good flavor and tender. Mashed potatoes were good. They have a full bar with specialty drinks that we did not partake in this trip. Overall, a great experience for chain steak restaurant.
Aaron, the manager, is always welcoming and attentive to customers. Victoria, the waitress, took care of everything. We didn’t have to ask for a thing. 10 out of 10 on service and food tonight.
Food was decent. Little pricey for what you get. The waitress was not good at all. I took my wife there for her Birthday. I asked if they did anything for Birthdays the waitress said she could get her some ice cream but never did. Over all for the price I probably wouldn't go back.
Has been our favorite for a long time. We finally caved last year and became Landry select members. We had family come into town and took them here because we love it and had such an awful experience. My daughter and I both ordered medium well steaks and had to send them back three times and they were still very undercooked. One of the times they were brought back to us, they were a whole other tables food, not ours. By the time they brought them back the third time, our whole party was done eating, it was very frustrating and embarrassing that we recommended it and had that happen. We didn’t get offered any kind of discount for the inconvenience or have our meals comped. They sent an email survey asking how they did, and I put in it how disappointing it was, it said they would get back with me and they never did. Needless to say, we are in search of a new restaurant and cancelled our membership.
This place has the "Very Best" Spicy Bloody Mary's around. Ask for Tim McGraw he is the one to make it. Serious his name is Tim McGraw not the famed singer but just happens to be distant relative of Dr. Phil.!
We had my mothers Birthday dinner here. She loves a good steak. They were marvelous. The server was excellent. Food was perfection, place was beautiful and clean. You really made her day. Thank you so much . We give Salt Grass Steak House a 100%.
Food was good, our server Austin was serving up micro aggression like it was his job to do so. Assuming we couldn't afford to eat at this restaurant keeps "informing" us the prices of certain food items. Which at the end after ordering them didn't bring it to us. I was trying to give my mother an incredible birthday dinner and it was spoiled. The bathrooms were disgusting on top of that. Not to mention he used our race as an ice breaker and went as far as to stereotype us.
Good food, service was very friendly (even though we came in about an hour before close). Steak was cooked as ordered. No complaints.
