We decided to give this a try without checking the reviews - and I’m glad we did! We chose lounge seating and had the sesame chicken and veggie fried rice. We had onion soup and house salad for starters. The Food was HOT and delicious. I was very pleased with the rice and the variety of veggies. Service was outstanding. Kayleigh was awesome. The plates are quite generous. We’ll be back and hope to try the hibachi side next.
Dinner at Kawa's 3/20/2022. I had nigori sake, green tea, a Fiery Cajun Roll, a Spiderman roll, and an Ocean Garden Roll. They were super busy for dinner and hibachi, but no one was sitting at the sushi bar, so I was able to get seated right away. But lots of tables were ordering sushi, because they were cranking it out back there. There were a couple of hispanic guys sushi-chefing behind the bar. I mention this not to be disparaging, and only mention it because it's unusual. Because these guys were *crushing* it. They were knocking out plate after plate of sushi rolls super fast, while maintaining beautiful presentation. The tip jar was barren, so I threw a $20 in there on top of the tip I wrote for the waiter.Everything was well presented, fresh, and delicious. I'll be back.
Would give zero stars if it were an option. Stopped by here on 3/20/22 at about 7 pm. Seated immediately- waitress was not attentive at all. “Chef” came, put rice on then went thru 3 or 4 order slips trying to figure out which one was ours. Subsequently the rice started to burn, as did the eggs. He finally found the right order then proceeded to finish cooking the rice and served it- burnt. The rest of the meal wasn’t much better- loads of garlic, same sauces used on everything (and way too much of it)- so everything tasted the same. Waitress barely checked on the table- one of our party found her in the bathroom standing there playing on her phone- chef had to go hunt down missing shrimp and a lobster tail- with food cooking on the table. “Chef” answered his phone twice while cooking for us. When he left, he didn’t even bother to clean up the cooktop- left a mess. No sauces, we had to ask for it once all our food was finished. None of us could eat our rice at all. Oh, and they say a total of 12 people at 1 table! 10 adults and 2 toddlers. I’ve eaten at many hibachi restaurants, never had this poor of an experience at such a premium price. Stay away from this place. We were traveling and thought we had stopped somewhere good, we were wrong. Oh, and everyone of us wound up booted and gassy.ETA: this was the response from the restaurant:“Response from the owner 16 hours agoHi , Thomas ,I apologize for your bad dining experience with us last night . This is not a kawas standard . I had personally addressed your issues to our chef team and management team, they decided to end the contract with your chef and retrain your server. Thank you for your review , we are always striving to improve and I assure you this won’t happen again. Have a nice day !”Curiously I never identified the chef or waitress- so I’m not sure how they identified them- and since were not from the area, we will doubtfully ever be back.
We had reservations for the hibachi for 730 pm and were still waiting to be seated at 830 pm. Three of us arrived early, but all members of our party had arrived by 730. There were 5 adults and one child in our party. When asked about the delay we were told "the table is being cleaned". We left without ever eating, so I can only rate the service and not the food. My advice: don't go on a Friday night. Also, Texas de Brazil is SO much better. No waiting, seated immediately, fabulous food. Worth every penny.
Dirty tables, looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. Pond is gross. We are out of coffee, really?
This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had! We came here for dinner and had bad service and bad food! The hibachi tasted like it was microwaved, we never received our appetizer (but we were charged for it), and our drinks were dry throughout our dinner. The food was so bad, we didn’t even eat most of it. Our waitress was nowhere to be found, and other servers brought us our food. My dinner came out 45 minutes before my husband’s. If I could do 0 stars, I would!
Great tasting food and the service was prompt and top notce.
Took my husband out to dinner for his birthday and had the worst service. Waited 10 minutes to even be greeted while the server was at the bar talking away. Once we been greeted, she seem like she didn’t even want to take care of us maybe assuming we don’t tip but I’m a server myself so I was going to take good care of her until her service was beyond bad. She also seem not focus as if she was on something. She forgot which orders went where, which drinks went where, and forgot to put in drinks as well. Rushed us to get out. We respectfully left knowing she probably wanted to leave after a long bad day so we decided to go to the bar for just shots. The bartender, Lyndsey was awful and rude. She asked why our server hasn’t cut us off after we only had 1-2 drinks per person. If you didn’t want to pour us shots and want to rush doing your closing duties so you can leave “a little” early you could of just said that. Horrible service all around managers doesn’t even do anything so just take it to the owners they’ll take care of everything.
If I could give this a zero star rating, I would. The first time I went here was great. It was during lunch and hardly anyone was there. This time was HORRIBLE. They honestly didn’t have a whole lot of people there considering that we were sat immediately. The waitress was very.. out of it. She dropped a tray of waters on my 1 year old son and all over my shoes and pants. Our food took an hour to come out. (And it was cold) We had to ask for every drink refill. The waitress admitted that she forgot my friends order so instead of coming back to ask, she just gave her the same thing as our other friend. As I was getting up to leave, I slipped in the booth because of the water that was spilled under our table. Every person who came to our table to bring out food or drinks sat them down right in front of my son, even though I specifically asked them not to because he would grab them. It was a VERY overwhelming experience. They gave my husband and I $10 off our meal but it was definitely not worth the $90 that we paid.
We went to Kawa's for the Hibachi, and we were not disappointed by the food. We were disappointed, however, by the tempo of service, everyone around us already had their waters and soup and we were the only ones left without them for a good amount of time. Nevertheless, the chef was great, the food was great, and the atmosphere was alright.
