The place was fairly crowded, but not too much. The waitress and other staff were very friendly and stayed on top of our orders and our needs. The food was real good, although to me the salsa was a little on the hot side.. (the red salsa more than the green one)but the over all experience there was a family friendly atmosphere with very good food and service.
Came in just to get drinks, we had already ate and just wanted to take my aunt that was in from out of town to get a Big Steve. So we sat down at the bar and told the bartender twice that we where only getting drinks so we didn’t need a menu. After that they brought chips that I did not ask for ! After we finished our drinks we asked for another Big Steve, mind you we just ate and was not even tipsy or anything. She told us that we had to buy food. I was like really you can only have ONE drink and then after you have to buy food. It was ridiculous she also said we couldn’t have lemon in our water because it was only for other drinks… made no sense. When we got the bill she had charged us for chips that we didn’t even ask for!!!! I will only be back for LUIS! He is the one that had us try the Big Steve and is so friendly. Do not eat with the lady bartender with the long braid.
Just tried this place for the first time and it was great! I personally like the atmosphere at the restaurant. Great design, great music, and it also has upstairs seating. I got 4 Al Pastor tacos on corn tortilla and it was spot on. At first I thought it wasn't gonna fill me up but bou am I wrong! The food here ia reasonably priced and there wasn't a wait to be seated. The food came out quick and the server kept checking up on us which is nice. I have no complaints here and will be back!
We stumbled into San Juan’s had fajitas for two & my husband had enchiladas of course Margaritas we walked into an awesome atmosphere playing Selena music the food was Delicious & there was plenty had to it home the Margarita was perfect we have found our place.PS make sure you have something to drink before you eat the hot sauce & chips homemade & Delicious we recommend
Chicken enchiladas were really good. The rice and beans had a good taste. Shrimp enchiladas were also tasty. It's a cozy restaurant with a freindly staff. The other thing that's worth mentioning is that the restaurant has only one bathroom each for male and female so it may take a little time for everyone to relieve themselves.
The atmosphere is fantastic! Good music playing, the place us decorated so beautifully, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious! From the chips and verde sauce to the mole enchiladas to the fajitas, and even the horchata! The whole meal was delicious! Pricing was good too!A new favorite of my family.Only downside is the red salsa isn't good. But the verde salsa is!

I’d come back to try their soup but I wasn’t super impressed. Their enchiladas were just eh… my friend really liked their tacos, so I would recommend those. Margarita was weak, but guacamole was good
Big Steve can turn any frown upside down. The food is always great. Haven't had anything on the menu I don't like. Wife loves it too. Highly recommend if you've never been. It's worth the trip downtown.
Over nearly 15 years of coming to DJ on the Square, with family, friends, and for a quick solo bite, the service and food have always been consistent. I've never been outright disappointed with anything I've had here. Is it the best Mexican in Tyler? Probably not, because of the dizzying amount of competition, but it is reliable. Tacos on some days may come out a little dry or lukewarm depending on how much meat they've pre-prepped, but even then they're still decent. Make sure to get mole if you get enchiladas, including in combos.
