Had catfish and chicken fried steak. First time in 20 years the catfish was a bit overdone. But the CFS was great as were the greenbeans and okra. But the crowning glory was the amazing banana pudding!

The catfish is best in the area. Been that way for years ?. Consistency is the mark of excellence. Other places have come and gone, Mel’s continues to delight. They also have good burgers, chicken fingers and chicken fried steak. Big portions are definitely shareable. If you do share tip extra. The servers worked just as hard as if you ordered two meals. ?

Wow...what a breath of fresh air. Pure Americana and done right. This is the food you go out for. Many places taste like they just pulled the food of the Sysco truck. This place is a great down home cooking spot. The atmosphere is great. A great broad representation of the community. Everyone is nice and friendly. Our server and helper were great. The food was delicious. My kids had a great time and we got to see someone eating the Mega Mel Burger. You can't go wrong.

Have been enjoying Mel's for a couple of decades now, and it never disappoints! Anything on the menu is great, nothing on there you can go wrong with. Had a stop in on a Sat evening at 5pm, and were able to get a table within a couple of minutes. Decided on their onion rings, fried mushrooms, bacon cheeseburger (regular size!... not the Mel or Mega-Mel) and the Monte Christo. The food is always hot, crispy and not greasy. The hostess and wait staff are super friendly and even tho the wait staff are going what seems like a million miles per hour.. they still take great care of you! The only nit-pick on our meal this time, was with the Monte Christo... they needed to melt the cheese in the sandwich before frying it! That sandwich needs to be warm inside when you bite in, not cool.

Was seated by the Hostess, then waited over seven minutes & was completely ignored by three separate waitresses. No one even came and took a drink order. I left Without trying anything on their menu, because no one seemed to care that I was there at all.

I love going to Mel’s. Great food and even better service.

Mel's Burger is a monster. Glad I didnt get fries too. I wouldnt have been able to touch them. The burger was two meals in one. It was so good. Got a Grilled Chicken Salad and the Grilled Catfish & Shrimp for the others and it looked so good. My food was ready as soon as I got there. Absolutely no problems. Been driving by for a few years and decided today was going to be the day. Drove 40 miles to pick up food since i was visiting friends in Magnolia. Well worth the drive.

We showed up on a busy Saturday lunch and were able to get a table for 4 within a few minutes. The food was all excellent. The chicken fried steak was epic and delicious. The smaller size was still plenty big. The chicken steak fingers were delicious as well. I tried the chicken aguacate. It had Cajun spices, avocado, pico de gallo, and cheese. So good! The cornbread was great as well, a little sweet though. Service was good too. We would highly recommend this place!

My wife suggested this place after reading about it on a Woodlands Foodies Facebook page. I was a little skeptical when we arrived, but oh boy was I wrong. The food here is really good and clearly homemade. The staff is super attentive about refills and making sure you are satisfied. The rolls and cornbread were a welcome surprise and are really good themselves. Overall, 5 stars and I'll be expressing that with my wallet when we come back here again!

Service was very good. The hamburger steak and mashed potatoes were really delicious.
