A different take on Mexican food. Nice restaurant with modern Mexican music playing. I had the Birria tacos. They were good. Not great. They had a heavy toasted cheddar cheese flavor I didn't care for. Plus no alcohol. The place was clean and the service was good so I'll try this restaurant again. But I'll get something different next time.
Went for lunch a week ago, and surprised they have no lunch menu or specials. Ordered platanos and a Gordita and though it came with an anemic looking side garnish, it was the most passable dish we ordered. Not much cheese, but plenty of meat. The plate with grilled chicken, beans and rice was very unremarkable. The chicken was cold, and had little flavor, and the rice was dry. Also ordered a side order of platanos, and was disappointed at the tiny amount of product served. They advertise that the food takes awhile to arrive, but ours came out almost Too quickly, as it did not seem freshly cooked, or hot. Our waitress was much more involved in taking photos with the table of ladies behind us, than waiting on us, and we never got drink refills, nor did she check on us, at any time, to see if we needed anything, though the table she was spending her time with, was right behind us. I lived in Central American for years, and love the cuisine there. Have been eating Mexican, Tex-Mex and other Latin cuisines all my life, and was just not impressed with the food here. Too expensive for the lack of quality here, so we won't return.
A Mexican-food favorite in The Woodlands, TX. La Cocina de Roberto serves AUTHENTIC Mexican food like pozole, birria and flautas for lunch and dinner. However, my favorite menu is for Breakfast: the “Desayuno Vegetariano” offers delicious scrambled eggs with nopales (cactus) and the “Chilaquiles con salsa verde” are out of this world; you can order them with egg, bacon, or fajita on the side. And the freshly squeezed orange juice is divine! The service is always welcoming and friendly, just like the restaurant owners Roberto & Claudia.
I’m excited for this review, I first had a taste of it at my job one of our pharmaceutical reps brought us breakfast. I believe the owner hand delivered and we were told he had made us home squeezed orange juice which was AMAZING ? the breakfast tacos were delicious as well. So here I am, party of 2: customer service was amazing all the ladies were so nice and attentive always smiling. It’s such a welcoming vibe when you enter. Restroom check: super clean and it smells nice in there. FOOD: I had Don Chuy grilled fajita beef with beans and rice. It was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The charro beans actually taste like they came from your mama’s house. The hubs had birria tacos ??? he loved them, I loved loved them. I had to snatched one up “for the review”.? Overall 10 out of 10 I would definitely recommend this place. It’s a must try.
New favorite spot!We drive over 30 minutes to eat here, authentic Mexican food.Their habanero sauce is the absolute best!Staff is amazingly friendly and attentive, 100% recommend
First timers and food was delicious ?. In our order we had the queso fundido with chorizo and chips with guacamole. Our meal consisted of street tacos de pastor ? and 3 quesa-birria tacos with 2 large agua frescas de jamaica y limonada.Prices are resonable and Carmen our waitress was so friendly and efficient. Will definitely come back for the breakfast menu.
Is Birria Wars a thing? I just found the outstanding winner for The Woodlands at La Cocina de Roberto (45 at Woodlands Parkway location). Perfection in everyway, I haven't had Birrira Tacos this good since Belly of The Beast left. The meat was tender and delicious, the cheese perfectly cooked in and charred and the consume with a tremendous flavor. Officiallyaa for me, the best Birria Tacos in The Woodlands! One of my favorite Tortas too are also here.
Excellent as always. The carne asada is always tender and delicious. Dessert was ?ass. A+

Good food at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff and a clean place. Have been there with family thrice since we found it two months ago. Would go there again and would recommend to all.
