Only giving 2 stars because the waitress provided good service and the decor was nice. Other than that there are no redeeming qualities about the actual food. This was my 2nd time going in about 3yrs as i like to give places a 2nd chance. The food had only changed for the worse. There were no Mexican people eating here, which should be the 1st red flag. The sauce that was brought ranged from mediocre to bad. The main course was completely over priced, especially considering the lack of quality and flavor, even the rice and beans left everything to be desired. Like how badly can you mess up rice and beans? I could never justify ever going back here again. This restaurant is a stain on the Mexican Cuisine. I am not sure how this place has 4.4 stars, clearly the dangers of having people that didn't grow up eating proper Mexican food be able to rate Mexican food.

Very impressed with how knowledgeable they are with gluten sensitivities. They have a gluten sensitive menu and I called to ask some questions regarding it, like why couldn't I get chicken or steak on the fajitas? They were very informed to the point of knowing that the marinades have gluten in them. So, I ended up getting the soft tacos off that menu and they were delicious. A little on the greasy side but I would get them again for sure. We got some nachos for my daughter which are corn chips, cheese, beans and beef. So, I called them again to ask why those were not on the gluten sensitive menu (to see if they were flour tortilla chips). They said it depends on your sensitivity and that the chips are fried in a fryer with other gluten items. Made sense. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Before I was gluten sensitive I recommended them as well. I love their food. Very sad I cannot have most of what I loved from before but that's life. Keep up the good work Abuelo's.

I and my partner have found without fail we can gauge a TexMex restaurant by it’s salsa and chips. Abuelo’s was no exception. The chips were fresh made crispy and thin, Just right! The salsa was like a El Fenix salsa with smoked chipotle chili pepper in it. No bite and very mild. Lota flavor but just flat on the heat. Having said that the rest of the meal followed suit. The cheese and chicken enchiladas had a excellent flavored sauce on both(Chicken=sour cream, Cheese = chili con carne) but alas not very much, kinda like they were just being stingy with it. The tortillas themselves were both very tough, Over nuked? The re-fry beans were very well made. The plain Queso was just that-Plain. The Guacamole was also under seasoned which can be good if you have excellent avocados , Alas, these weren’t, The queso with meat and peppers was good though. The Flan was I believe a professional package mix as it was homogenous and the sugar topping and juice had no bite. No character- just sweet. Tiramisu lovers will like it. So overall you can see it’s just like the chips and salsa—a mixed bag,

This restaurant is a surprise. It sits in an unassuming strip mall. I was recently invited for a birthday dinner and was amazed. It is more spacious than it looks from the outside. Inside, it is lovely. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We went on a Saturday evening and it was comfortably busy. I will return. It is my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

Wow! My dish came with pork medallions and those stole the show! Smokey flavor wrapped in bacon with grill marks and so tender. I will be back just for those! The two enchiladas were ok but man those medallions! ? Ended up here because another place was crowded. Did have to wait about 20 minutes but after tasting those medallions, WELL WORTH IT! Grabbed tres leche cake to go and that was really interesting. Looked like a good menu, but as you can see the pork medallions really captured my ❤️ and taste buds. ? Waitress was great, nice looking place inside as well. Give them a try!

Almost A+++ , More Like B+ Still great.Site guide review:Dined here on Jan 22. Quickly sat, but place was definitely cranking. Advise you get here prior to 6 pm or there may be a wait on a saturday night.Server seemed to have too many tables, was not only waiting on people, but she was also cleaning her own tables. The result was slower than usual service, definitely not her fault. Bree was our server, she was a great waitress.Started off with drinks, wife had sangria ( too much ice, barely any sangria but still great). I had a frozen sangria. Was amazing. We had the dip sampler (in photo). had 3 types of dips. Queso, bean and cheese mixture and guacamole . This was good however chips were not fresh and because of the service it took a while for the refill.Wife ordered the enchilada platter. Amazing food, always hot and cooked very well. I ordered the chicken quesadilla's as I was not starving after the appetizer. The quesadilla was not good at all. The meat inside was over marinated and pretty much inedible. This is where you lost the star. Was almost like little tiny weird crumbles of chicken, Like you ran out of chicken and just put shavings in. very odd but not the end of the world.Overall a great visit, definitely better than ZOCADAS ( that place is like a D+ now). For this review I give you a B++++ all the way

Excellent service and extremely accommodating management as well. The servers and management are well informed on their menu/offerings (both food and beverage), so ask them for their recommendations and input if you can.

Great food, environment and excellent waitress. Jessica knew I needed more to drink before I did. Her suggestions well fabulous. Thank you so much for a great lunch!

Gave Abuelo's a try last week and it was amazing! Our waiter Xavier gave great recommendations, was spot on with service and we never had a drink run dry. He definitely made the experience even better. My husband had sirloin medallions and bacon wrapped shrimp, the sirloin had amazing flavor and how can you go wrong when you wrap something in bacon? I chose an enchilada sampler platter which was also mouth watering! My favorite, the green salsa, talk about incredible flavor! Had to get some to take home!

Thank you to Abuelo’s staff and Andy’s team for catering our Christmas party last night. The food was so delicious, delivery was on time and large catering order was seamless!
