My wife and I were going to eat. They asked where I would like to go eat. I said I wanted just plain ole good "Merkin" food. Not from a pretend to be chain store either. My geandson said, "I know just the place." We arrived at The Lunch Box. On sight I had questions, but onward we went. Rustic might be the description. Once inside, the place was packed. Today's menu was on a board behind the register. You could choose meats, after picking your meat, the sides are all order of the day. The staff was excellent and attentive. The food was served quickly, and hot. It was not mama's cooking, but mama would have liked to eat there. That good! Now get this! $9.00 tax included, with salad and dessert thrown in. Listen, if you live in Texarkana and like good home cooking, you have to try The Lunch Box. Enjoy!
I love their lunch specials today I had their chicken fried chicken and it was so yummy. Their desserts are always delicious. My husband is a huge fan of their fish they serve on Fridays.
Last time I went I called my order ahead. When I got there they didn't have an order for me. Then they forgot to give me the drink I paid for. I also didn't like the chicken spaghetti. This time I prepared, looked on the website for what to order, and they didn't have it. They told me they switch menus every other week. They should keep their website updated.
We were warmly greeted as we entered. Our order was taken very efficiently. We received our food quickly and enjoyed it very much. We had chicken fried steaks, oven baked potatoes, fried okra, salad, roll, cake and drinks at a very affordable price. We have never gone wrong dining here. They are very busy at lunch time so you might want to be there when they open about 10:45 am; however, the service is always fast.
Absolutely love the food and atmosphere! If you want some good home cooking by a older white lady that calls you sugar when she checks on you, this is the place to go!
