My first time visiting Escalantes was an amazing experience. The server was excellent, and the staff is very friendly. Don’t get me started with the food, it was delicious; I had the fajitas combination, and the meat was very tender and juicy. My fiancé had the burrito deluxe, and they were so good! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. We definitely would return.
I ordered an entree, Carne Asada Escalante and a large bowl of Chile Con Queso Blanco as an appetizer. I was never asked what sauce I wanted on the steak ( Tequila peppercorn or chimichurri). My entree arrived and there was no sauce on it at all, when I asked my waitress she stated that it had been brushed on there and cooked which is why I could not see it. She literally argued with me about it, I then had two others taste it, compared it to the Chimichurri sauce on the Mexican Pinwheel Steak and we determined it had never been applied. I have photos of the steak if needed. When she finally brought me a cup of each sauce, I asked her where the Queso was, her response was "you still want it". I told her yes and when it arrived it was watered down to the point it sank through the Mexican rice without leaving any on top. and I asked for a spoon so the others at the table could share. After an additional 10 minutes waiting for a spoon, I finally walked to the host stand and asked the host who eventually provided a spoon. When the waitress returned, still without a spoon, and had to run my credit card on the computer instead of the handheld device, I had another person ask me why the waitress was being rude to me.
Having had a truly enjoyable meal at this restaurant when we visited in 2019, last night was rather disappointing. The food was fresh and well prepared, but the service was truly lacking. I am unsure whether to describe it as dismissive or truly inept, or perhaps a combination of both. Once our food was served, no one checked on us, while we looked for our server for well over twenty minutes. When the server finally arrived, no interest was shown as to whether we enjoyed our meal or cared for anything else, including coffee or dessert. A request for a box to take home leftovers resulted in another fifteen minute wait, and another similar interval to wait for a check. Meanwhile, the adjacent tables who had other servers were being attended to regularly. There was a temptation to just walk out and not pay the bill. Clearly this server was otherwise occupied elsewhere on the premises or just thought our party was not worthy of their attention. I felt that the server deserved zero gratuity for their lack of attention, but felt that would be misinterpreted and so an undeserved gratuity of ten percent was left for the server to ponder. We have no interest in returning, which is a shame as the food and drink was really pretty good.
Having just stumbled upon this place, we didn't know what we were getting into or what to expect. There was a short wait to be seated, but not too bad. Once seated the excellent service began. Very friendly waiter. We had the fajitas for two, beef only. These were the best fajitas that I have had in years. The meat was not overly seasoned and was very, very tender.
We sat right down when we arrived at 7:00 PM. The wait staff did a great job. I ordered the pablano mushroom fajitas with corn tortillas, grilled vegetables and refried black beans. The dish was very tasty and more than plentiful, but the pablanos were way too salty. Make your dish better with other seasoning. I'll be back to have this dish but I'll be sure to ask for no salt.
Just perfect. A group of 20 people. Fast service, food came out all at the same time. Excellent food, high quality. Just a great experience all around.

Went for my birthday. The ambiance is really elegant and cozy. The food is good too. I recommend the fish and/ or shrimp tacos. Staff is friendly and fast. ?

Food was just ok. There are way better tex-mex places to try out. Service was a tad slow and has to keep asking for a glass of water. Not the worst place, not the best. Just ok.
