Great catfish and fries. Even good the next day heated in the oven. Reasonably priced. BYOB, no problem. Go on Monday for the catfish special.
I placed an online order with the Kuykendahl store yesterday. I had not been there in a couple of months and nowhere near as often as I had before covid struck. I have always loved their food but was very disappointed when I received the order. Their website is good and the order was ready before I got there but the food was not the quality I have come to expect. I had their fried shrimp platter and a side of cheesy grits. The shrimp were over cooked and therefore dry and the grits were far worse. The grits had not been cooked long enough and were still gritty (excuse the pun) and I could hardly taste the cheese. I understand the price increase because it's happening everywhere BUT the quality food needs to be maintained!
TODAY on my lunch break I ordered a Shrimp Basket that is supposed to include one side and I added one fish for $15!! I get on the road and there was NO SIDE/FRIES in my container. The receipt doesn't list restaurant phone number and google doesn't list the phone number for this location on Kuykendahl. Please check your TO GO orders and DO NOT order desserts from this location. They are not homemade and they aren't cooked properly. Last time at this location.
Very well seasoned food. I'm not an expert on seafood but the taste is definitely one of the best we have tried in the spring area , very good amount of food for the price of seafood , very well cooked and taste is by far the best we have seen in years.Give them a chance , owner is a super cool guy .Menu is large and gumbo is excellent.
Lied about the type of fish they serve when blatantly asked, like someone is dumb. Born and raised on catfish I could definitely tell. Then, manager doesn't return calls. Will avoid you when you have a problem with your order. I'm not hating on businesses trying to make money selling cheap generic fish but if asked be honest. I will never patronize this company again and will let everyone know I encounter of their deceptive tactics.
My husband and I stopped at this place and he got the 7 jumbo grilled shrimp with rice and beans. The shrimps were so small I wish I would have taken a picture of it. He called the guy over who had an attitude and said they strinked while being grilled and said he feels what my husband was saying. I had the dinner salad with grilled fish. It was pretty good just too much lettuce. Then to top it off while I was getting a top for my water I saw a small roach.
The food is delicious!! I got the catfish and shrimp family meal. It was fried to perfection!! Not greasy at all. They had a variety of sauces which is great for my family, they all are picky. The Mac & cheese is good elevated from your typical Mac & cheese. I will definitely be coming bk!! Try it you won't be disappointed!! I should've taken pics. I will next time.
I got the fried catfish basket. Which is 5 pieces of fish with hush puppies and one side of your choice. It only took about 5 minutes and our food was brought out to our table and was scorching hot (which is good?). The staff was super friendly and attentive. The catfish was very tasty and was cooked perfectly and the slightly spicy tartar sauce was the perfect compliment. My side dish was red beans and rice and it was good but itself. They get two thumbs up from me. I can't wait to go back and try the dirty rice and other dishes.
We just moved to this neighborhood and found this great restaurant, the catfish basket was hot and fresh, great portion with reasonable price, servers were very nice and friendly. We can’t help to visit here 2 nights in a row, we ordered the same catfish basket except different side dish, I like the mac and cheese. Highly recommended.
It's one of those quick grab dinner day for us. We decided to order the family trays and each order is a 2 lbs each of catfish and 2 lbs of prawns. As always, it's a fun visit with the staff and wonderfully they remember us from the last visit which was a month ago ?
