Used to be good, now you can tell they aren’t cleaning the place. Dust sticking to wires counter top rags and uncovered food laying about food prep area.
The best establishments are led by people motivated by their passion for what they do and the reward ie: bill, that comes at the end is not their primary focus but simply a means of continuing their passion. Then come the establishments whose primary focus is the reward at the end and care little of what precedes it. Its unfortunate this business is the latter of the two and their performance reflects this attitude. My wife and I were finally seated after a lengthy wait and the server immediately wanted to know what we wanted before we even had a chance to touch the menus. She literally stood over us while we examined the menus. My wife ordered a bento box meal and I ordered two of the specialty rolls that together were about double the cost of the bento box. My wife's bento box came and she politely waited as long as she could before beginning to eat. No specialty rolls yet. My wife ate and finished her meal and no rolls yet. A busser came to collect her empty dishes and I complained of not getting my order after which a manager appeared and said the chef was now working on my order. We waited another 15 minutes and I made them aware we were done and not happy and to just give me a bill for what they served. The bill immediately came with the two specialty rolls added totalling $ 27.00 of additional cost on the bill. I advised they never served me the rolls and they needed to adjust the bill to reflect what was actually served and the server retreated to do just that. While the server was away adjusting the bill the manager appeared with the two rolls at the table expecting me to eat them. By this time my wife was waiting for me by the door. I said no way am I eating those as my wife isn't even seated here anymore and he should comp our bill for ruining our once a week dining splurge and told them I now was stopping at Mc Donalds on my way home. Upon hearing that he boxed up the rolls and was quite dejected about not charging me for them. We are fixed income people and our one night a week we allow ourselves especially in this economy is special. We will continue to seek out establishments that are motivated by something other than their compensation but this one is scratched off the list. Hopefully our miserable experience can save some of you the same.
Great food and great service
Really fresh sashimi and nigiri. Didn’t love that they do a shrimp for one of the chef choices but the other pieces were very good. Lunch sushi/sashimi bento was only $14 and nigiri was 2 for 1 during lunch. Will definitely be back!
The sashimi here was soooo good! Really fresh and thick cut - completely delicious. I would come back again just for that.
Awesome spot we have come to a few times now and will probably remain a regular spot. HUGE selection of sushi options and all fresh made to order. Service has been consistently friendly and top notch. Highly recommend expecting a short wait or make reservations (not sure this can be done as we always walk in). It's popular and there is always a wait to get a seat.
I think this is the best sushi place around Southlake area. Service is good, friendly and fast service. Try this place you won’t be disappointed.
Luckily we made a reservation because the entire restaurant was packed! We were sat immediately and had some great sushi. Sushi Zen also gave us the fastest service, excellent experience overall.
My wife and I have been looking for a really good sushi restaurant close to home and I think we found it. For starters, we shared 2 rolls without rice. The red rose and the candy cane roll. Each roll melted in your mouth with a burst of flavor. The ingredients smelled and tasted fresh. My wife ordered the Hawaiian poke bowl and I had the sashimi plate. Instead of rice with some ingredients, the poke bowl was ingredients with some rice. And the best part, everthing tasted fresh. Even the rice. I went with a sashimi plate. The texture of each piece was just firm enough. And, the fresh smell of each piece was outdone by the taste. An enjoyable evening.
Cannot even begin to describe how good the sushi was. The fact that my boyfriend didn’t even like sushi & only went because I wanted some AND he liked it….I feel like that’s impressive! Presentation, taste, & quality were all amazing. Staff was also super friendly. 10/10 experience. Definitely would love to come back again!
