All I can say is WOW! As an LGBT person myself, it can be hard to find a place where you feel comfortable being yourself. I must say, this place seriously made me feel like I was at my home away from home. All of the staff was accommodating, and very friendly. It was also nice that the place is 18+, so no kids. The room that I stayed in was awesome, and the beds were very comfortable. Glad to see that they were using Sherwood bedding!I'll be back, SOON!!
The staff absolutely made our stay incredible! Ginny, the new owner, is personable and so accommodating! Shannon and Jessica were both so welcoming...we felt like we were visiting old friends or family. The place is so chill and the best place to unwind. The beach is a few minute walk from the hotel. The drinks were reasonably priced and the food was amazing! Kudos to the chef and also to the great people I met (Ginny, Shannon and Jessica)! We will look no further for our yearly stay on the island!
Amazing quaint hotel less than a block from the beach. The staff are fabulous and help any way they can. The hotel is under new ownership and is being updated. They made sure no one was staying near the rooms being worked on. If you didn't know you wouldn't realize there was work going on. The retro fridge, microwave and coffee pot are amazing. Will definitely be staying here again! Nightly entertainment at the poolside bar.
I absolutely LOVED staying at this place and without question will stay there the next time I'm in South Padre, without hesitation and without thought of any other place. I won't be interested in visiting S. Padre if there's no room at the Upper Deck when I'm planning to go, and I'm HIGHLY picky about anything that I'm ever willing to think so highly of!!I was able to have my puppy with me at and affordable price, which was fantastic because he's my registered support dog. So I try to go nowhere without him! That fact alone won this place tremendous value points in my book! But they were pretty close to perfect in just about every way, the only thing keeping them from actually being perfect is the fact that, in my opinion, there's ALWAYS room for improvement if you work for it. These people are among the few I've come across this millennium to seem to understand that and work towards it, while still maintaining a level of humanity. If you understand what I'm saying there, you'll absolutely love staying at the Upper Deck.The only reason I didn't give 5 stars all across the board was simply because I personally don't believe in giving a perfect score to anyone, and would expect the same from anyone grading a business of mine, as a reminder that there's still room for improvement, even if no one knows how or where. It helps to maintain a level of humility in me while allowing me to search for any possible way to do things just a little bit better. So, I grade any business I come across with that same mindset that I would want someone else to use on mine.
The bartender was very great! Absolutely wonderful. She was very nice and personable. Food was alright. This bar use to be a LGBT + bar which was amazing. Recently it’s new ownership. Cool awesome. What wasn’t great was the patrons. Super loud and obnoxious. It really ruined the whole mood. The bar was cool but I dunno ??♂️ might not come back in the future. This place lost its personality.
My sister and I had an amazing time there! Hands down the most friendly and accommodating hotel staff we have ever met. They gave us a tour of the property, held our luggage after we had to check out of the room but before we had to leave to the airport, and gave us some great recommendations. The location is great as well - very easy to walk most places, and the bus stops close to the hotel if you don't want to walk. 10/10 would recommend staying here!

The Upper Deck is a clean facility - emphasis on clean and friendly. New ownership is in process of multiple improvements and upgrades, but they don't impact the visit. Hotel is 1/2 block for easy access beach and 1/2 block from South Padre drive. Our room was on the lower level for Super Bowl weekend and Valentines day - it was clean, sanitized and neat. We could have used some sort hanging rack for clothes, but otherwise just fine.
Great location and the staff is so friendly. Live music at the bar and great food. Definitely enjoyed the hot tub!
The woman at the desk wasn't interested in helping us . She took a phone over us and ignored us . It was only when we were walking out that she was interested in helping us . We didn't stay there . It is an adult only hotel. It is a shame because she lost business .
