This used to be one of my favorite places to bring my kids to eat, but I am grossly disappointed today. I brought my family to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, and we were denied entry because we had a small birthday cake with us. Now I know why their parking lot has been empty all week when we have passed by. I don’t recommend this place at all if you are looking for good food, service and a good time.

0 stars if I could. Definitely wouldn’t recommend. Food is horrible and customer service is even worse.Wrong: all your employees in the past that I am friends with have told me to go thru that entrance… even your own son, since I am local and not just some random tourist visiting. Having over 300 negative reviews speaks very loud and you are ruining the reputation of a once nice family, friendly restaurant and water sports.

Wanted to share my family’s experience we had at Parrot Eyes yesterday (Thursday) in hopes others will save there money and go to an establishment that values their customers.Yesterday, my family and I decided to try Parrot Eyes for the first time. We just moved here and have been spending lots of money on the island investing into local businesses and restaurants as we strongly believe in doing that to help boost business and the local economy.I have never been treated so poorly or discriminated against in my life until we stepped into Parrot Eyes. We sat outside (because of the no cut off shirts rule that we didn’t no about). We ordered our food and was having a normal regular time. Food wasn’t that great but nothing necessary “wrong” with it just wasn’t good. Side bar: my husband did find a hair on his plate of shrimp tacos but it was under the tacos and he didn’t see it until after he ate the food. We didn’t complain about that or do a thing. We were given our bill with a 18% tip already added. When I asked our server ?guy with black curly hair) if that was normally just added to large table or what? He said “no I added that based on your body language”. I asked for clarification as I didn’t know what he was meaning he refused to give me a straight answer and smirked and said I “ignored his questions” again I asked what questions.. he tried walking away and refused to answer me while being completely rude and unfair in his reasoning. I asked for a manager which he refused and said he was a manger. But still refused to calm down enough to provide a professional answer. When we were walking out to leave, I saw what looked to be a owner or manager (older woman) at the front desk. I stoped to try to tell her about my experience and our waiter walked up to her and told her not to listen to us. Without me even being able to tell her what happened, they tried kicking us out to which I tried to again tell her what was going on. They (the waiter, hostess and owner/ manager/older lady (whoever she was) became hostile and refused to even allow us to speak at all.You see, it’s not about the 18% it’s about when asked about it, I was treated in a very rude way, discriminated against and made to feel I was some awful person because I apparently look like the type that apparently doesn’t tip. However that’s not the case. I’m the person that cleans the table and stacks the plates up for them to be cleaned, I’m the type to leave large tips when I feel they are deserving and I also tip 20%. This place is a joke. They have their Facebook reviews turned off, likely to avoid others from seeing there poor reviews, which can be found on Google. Those reviews are met with responses from management in hostile and rude ways as well. The people running this place seem to not like being told where they can improve to better customer experiences. It’s sad really as we planned on also doing water sports after we finished eating. However no more money will ever be spent at Parrot Eyes. Also not to mention, my husband is a disabled veteran and the emotions, actions and being yelled at caused some triggers to come up for my husband once we got to the car. Even my 7 year old son stated “mommy, why are they being so mean to us”.So if you are looking for a good experwhere you will not be discriminated or stereotyped Parrot Eyes is not it. Save your money and give it to another restaurant/ establishment what values their customers and their experiences as well. I’d also encourage you all to read the good and bad reviews on Google and see how they respond to them. Prof is in the pudding.

As soon as I entered they said I had to sit at deck because I was wearing a crop top, nothing too much revealing. Yet as I’m sitting outside and about to order I see a woman inside, way bigger than me by the way, wearing a crop top with all her gut sticking out. Made me feel like they discriminated maybe cuz I’m Latina and the person inside was a white person. Then we ordered and asked for something else, which the person we asked for the item kept passing but never brought it. It’s like they forget about you. They say they have a dress code but all I saw was a sign at entrance saying no wet clothes and no barefoot never does it mention crop tops. Oh and last time I went I wasn’t allowed inside either cuz I had a tank top but yet yesterday a winter Texan was in there eating wearing a spaghetti strap. ??‍♀️

Drinks were great and nicely iced, but will not allow me (a 17 year old) wear a crop top inside the restaurant. Would not let us be beach bums and restricting with what to wear as “restaurant attire.” Chips and queso were nice, although they hold a beautiful parrot in a cage begging to get out. Not nice to have a big parrot in a cage like that. Would not recommend if you just got from the beach.

I would rate this place a 0 star if i could… i went to the restaurant, on Saturday the 28th, after coming from the boatin n floatin boat party hosted at the bay. We came to dock, at the nxt door boat dock, due to parrot eyes main dock being closed. I proceeded to go in to their premises walking thru front parking lot and into their main entrance. I was greeted by the front door hostess and I asked to use the restroom before going in and getting seated. An old white lady walks up to me and immediately gets in front of me and demands for me to leave their premises, stating that their restaurant is not opened for public restrooms. I offered in the most professional and respectful way, that my party and i wished to dine there and she refused to let me in. She pointed me out of her premises, So i crossed the street and managed to use restroom in a near by store. i meant no disrespect and i kindly walked away. As made my way back from the nearby store restroom and minding my own business, i proceeded by walking in thru the parking lot and an old white male in his 60’ - 70’s who i believed his name was Ron, and more than likely the owner, came running down the stairs into the parking lot , gets in front of my FACE, only leaving about a 1.5ft in front of me and him, in the most KAREN way. Poor old man was extremely furious and demanded me to get off his parking lot and was screaming at me the next words , “I specifically close my restaurant boat ramp (Parrot Eyes) for that boatn event thats hosted in the bay today. I do not like anybody that attends that event and they are not welcomed at my place”. “ i hve been closing my doors to people from that party and hve been doing this for the past 8yrs.” The restaurant security guard that arrived at my/our location, seemed herself embarrassed towards the way Ron was treating me. I told him to calm down that theres no need for his attitude “Karen”. i didn’t say KAREN but i was really experiencing that attitude come to life, right in front of my own eyes. I advised him, still remaining calm, that i meant no disrespect to his business and that i was only walking thru d parking lot to reach the next building dock, were my friends were. I advised him to let me go about my own way, peacefully. He kept furiously expressing how he dislikes everyone that attends that boatn party and that he will not render any services to anyone. He threatened me and harassed me by telling me that he caters to the Parks and wild life Game Wardens and told me that he was going to call them to arrest me. I had never in my life been so disrespected, humiliated and strongly believed to have been treated with racism. i am , in my late 40s hispanic male , who has served my community and my country working in the Federal Government for over 20yrs . I told him that my party an myself were financially well off to come and eat at his restaurant and he told me in his own words, that he didn’t give a sh#£ for me or no one else money to be wasted in his restaurant. I remained calm and respectful and it seemed not to matter, he kept screaming and getting in my face as i walked away. I am so glad i didn’t spend a penny in this restaurant… with unprofessional and racist service like this, who needs this people. i really pray to god they lose their establishment and new ownership gets a hold of this restaurant because SPI dsnt need or deserves these types of owners nor do tourists or locals either. We as locals and tourists deserve respect and professionalism at all times. STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT, YOU AS A TOURIST OR AS A LOCAL DESERVE WAY BETTER SERVICE THAN THIS. Local Brownsville resident myself, thnks.

There is too many other places to eat on South Padre Island, for me to ever return here. Before we even enter the building we see a sign saying they don’t split checks anymore. How hard is it for them to ask for two checks. We sit down and (like all dining places) they push alcoholic drinks & appetizers, with suggestions various drinks. (It’s still AM) no drinkers at our table. I ask for tap water. “We don’t serve tap water” WHAT? This is the first time in 4 dozen+ years of dining out I’ve been denied tap water. They CLAIM the tap water is not potable. Living in the same water district I know very well there are no bulletins to NOT drink the water. IF THE WATER WAS NOT SAFE to drink local kiosks sell water for $0.25/gal. How hard would it be to but 100 gallons and tap it as a complimentary service with a paid meal? Raise the prices 2% if that’s what it takes to offer water. Lunches start @ $12.00. Not terribly hungry my wife & I split fajitas. $16. Food was OK. The 4 fajitas were tiny enough for 1/5th of the food to eat them with. I asked for 4 more was charged $0.50 EACH for these 3” fajitas. Server was nice, pleasant, attentive and I have no issues with the staff. Fountain drinks were $2.75+ tax and they charged $0.75 for refills. Soda is already 95% profit this is pure greed to charge for refills. Fortunately parking is STILL free.

Very good Bloody Ceasars (Bloody Mary with Clamato). Just right taste Shrimp were huge! Chips and salsa appetizer, the salsa has a bite but not overly so.

It was near the 7pm clising time and not very busy. Had a great Bacon Burger and good Margarita. Very friendly host and wait staff.

Went there lastnight (Saturday) around 4pm thought we would have a few drinks then eat.. went inside no one was there but its only 4.. chose to sit outside waitress came got us a drink then asked if we wanted to order said we would wait a little bit.. she went inside made a snide comment about the fact we weren't ordering food. 45 minutes later we commented to another server about where she went. She then came out said she forgot about us.. NO ONE else in the restaurant inside at the time..
