I have mixed feelings about this place. The food was great but the service was subpar. Our waitress was rude not an ounce of friendliness. They charge you for chips and salsa which is odd for a Mexican restaurant but not that big of deal. They also charge if you make any removals from your meal. When asked about their specials they said they didn’t offer any but had a huge sign that said no changes on the special of the day. Very limited seating so I would go if the group is larger than 6. The only thing saving this place is how good the food was.

We are not familiar with Tex-Mex but wanted to try some during our trip to South Padre Island. Glad we tried Chilitto Pikin. The food and service were excellent and affordable! We generally prefer the Mexican we have in So Cal, but this was very genuine as well. Don’t let the outside scare you away. It is clean and well kept inside the restaurant.

We stopped here for dinner on March 8 around 4pm. My sister had the carnitas plate. My significant other and I had the Mexican plate. We split an order of chips and salsa. Great food, portions and service. I will highly recommend Chilitto Pikin and will be back if I visit SPI again

Have dined there B4. Just into town, a first place for dinner. MOST EXCELLENT GENUINE MEXICAN DINNER. Right on Padre Blvd, but you have to look for it. Not a "Spanish" restaurant, it is REAL Mexican restaurant.

We had the supreme nachos for $14.99. it was filled with beef, chicken, and shrimp. We both think they were the best ones we have ever had. I would say it was enough for 4 people.

Being from Texas, my wife and I know good Mexican food. Maybe we are spoiled because we know all the good spots in our home area, but sorry to say that a higher rating for this place just isn't warranted. Plus, they charge $5.99 extra for chips and salsa; what kind of Mexican restaurant charges extra for that?

We tried to eat at Chillito Pikin a few times during our week in South Padre Island but their hours are limited and they were always closed. Then, on our last day, we drove by around lunch time and they were open so we stopped. OH. MY. GOODNESS!!! I wish we could have eaten here for every meal of the week. This is, without a doubt, the best restaurant we dined at during our week's vacation. I ordered the mexican plate and got a good variety of items to try. The food was all so good. EVERYTHING was delicious! The enchilada sauce was tasty. The beef was seasoned perfectly. The beans were fresh, creamy and full of flavor. The rice was pleasantly moist and flavorful. The crispy taco shell was light and delightfully crunchy. Not only was everything delicious, but there was SO MUCH FOOD! My wife wasn't very hungry so ordered nachos. She received a heaping plate of chips, meat, and cheese. Lots of everything. Again, so much food. And every single bite was so good. Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was excellent. This appears to be a small family restaurant, and these people are so very nice, polite, and friendly! We were served promptly, our food came quickly, and we were checked on to make sure everything was good. The prices were very reasonable. I may never eat again, but when I do, I hope it is at Chillito Pikin. I instantly fell in love with this little place and am sad to leave it to travel back home.

Friendly service, can get very busy. Authentic Mexican food.

One of the best mexican foods I have had. Caution- the sauces are spicy. We enjoyed it, but that level spice may not suit everyone - good thing is that the sauce is on the side and you can choose your spice level. Very small place, you go here only for the food.

The building is easy to miss and like others have said, it looks like a dive. But the food was great and the service was fast and friendly. I had the shrimp tacos and my husband had the shrimp quesadilla.
