On our way from DFW to Tulsa I asked Google Maps for the best restaurant in Sherman. We were ready for lunch. At the top of the list appeared the Old Iron Post. We found it just far enough off the highway to offer road relief, but without significant delay. The old downtown setting and character of the restoration made a great first impression. Our server Haley welcomed us quickly and immediately made a personal connection. I'm always impressed when a server offers authentic recommendations on my first visit. Mom and I split the fish and chips with a side salad each. Excellent fresh ingredients and upon order preparation made for a delicious and ample meal. Without intrusion, Haley took great care of us and made us feel as though we were long time friends she offered special attention to. She even answered my questions about the architecture and history of the building. I will bring more family back to Sherman specifically to visit this iconic establishment! And we will come for lunch to see Haley!
Showing property in Sherman TX to family!! Being a Realtor in this market has been challenging but we are still finding great home. Real Estate ROCKS!! Call me if I can list your home.
My 6 year old grandson and I stopped in on our meandering drive from Santa Monica, CA, to St Louis, MO. No schedule, no hurry! We both ordered the cheeseburger, with fries. We asked that the fries be really crispy. And they were! The burgers were tasty and the meat quality was, as expected, very good. Our server was attentive, friendly and seemed to be present whenever he was needed. And he was very welcoming to my grandson, which is seldom the case in the Santa Monica, CA, restaurants. Old Iron Post lived up to their reputation.
We came in for dinner on a slow night. They had one waitress and a bartender working. The waitress seemed very new to the job- to new to be working alone. The food was bland, asked for a sweet tea & got unsweetened. When it came time for the ticket I was floored to see how much it was. They over charge for nasty food. I do not recommend this place. You almost need to be buzzed to think the food was of good quality. Very dissatisfied with the entire experience.
Food was great!!! Beer was good and ice coldBut the bar tender Alyssa was over the blue moon awesome!!
Food was cold. Waitress would not write down our order and messed it all up. Took forever to get the food. This was a great place to eat a year or 2 ago. Going down hill fast
Stopped in for a couple of beers and a burger on a Sunday evening as a first stop traveling from out of state on business. Quiet setting at the time. Beer selection was decent, but it would have been nice to have a menu/list that we could have looked at to make a decision. I had the Bleu Burger with fries and it was c delicious!
Food and atmosphere was good. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. I won’t come back because the prices on the menu were much lower than what they charged me. A Shiner beer on the menu was either $4.25 or $5.25 on the menu depending on the size. I was charged $5.50 and $7.50 for the beers respectively.Old Iron Post, you might want to consider updating your menu.
Nice atmosphere! Need an updated menu! Didn't have the first few things I ordered! Bartender would have gotten a better tip had she been more attentive and asked me if I wanted another drink before giving us the bill!
My Bestie and I are retired and trying new places to eat . It was the best lunch I have had in a very long time . Our server was amazing . Felt very welcomed. Next time we will try an appetizer (or 2) ?
