This could be a five star BBQ destination because Burnt Bean is very good. They might even be great, but that's the issue, it's not apparent from the moment you visit.I arrived at 1015 on a Saturday in June with about 50 folks ahead, they opened at 11, and I was eating by 1140. That's a perfectly acceptable wait time. The moment I opened the door I was hit by the right kind of smell. I'd soon taste why. The savory sweet ribs put them in a running for second best ribs I've had, and I've had every famous one in TX. They were fall off the bone tender, which might be a sign of a slight overcook, but was nonetheless delicious. The brisket was good, but it's not a good sign when your staple meat is only good and not great. This is TX, so there are tons of good brisket options. I'm all about that juicy flavor their brisket had, but not the patches of truly burnt bark on the outside. That was on moist cut. Their sides are fine, because if speaking with guests in line was any indicator, fine is the most common descriptor I heard. However, barbacoa dirty rice is an excellent idea and should be better promoted. So major props to Burnt Bean for successfully fusing Creole and Mexican staples in a TX BBQ front. To be clear, you should eat here! You'll have a great experience and probably love the meat. It's just not as a grand a stand out after you've tried other establishments in the running for the TX title of best BBQ.
This was the most tender and flavorful brisket I have ever eaten. In fact every dish we ordered was very tasty. We arrived around 11:15AM on a Saturday to a line around the corner. It took about 90 minutes to get to the front of the line. Unfortunately most of the meat items were sold out, but we were able to score the brisket and beef jalapeno sausage. #VivaBBQ
I have eaten lots of Barbeque over the years, but Burnt Beans Co. had us raving about the smoked Turkey and Brisket. Absolutely the most delicious I have ever experienced.
great meats and sides and good menudo
Burnt Bean Company has delicious BBQ. It took my wife and I approximately 40 minutes of waiting and ordering before we sat down and enjoyed our meal. For us that's not half bad wait time, especially getting there at 1120.The atmosphere is warm with a rustic feeling. There are large tables for parties but also open to allowing others sit with you, true southern style eating. The service was impeccable and the line cooks were quite funny interacting with each other and the customers. My wife and I got the Pulled Brisket Sandwich, Slice Turkey Sandwich, 1/2 Lb Sausage, Potato Salad and Cowboy Beans. Those were quite delicious and extremely tasty. Everyone seems to be a good critic when they review other peoples reviews. I gave it a 4 star because they have so many items on the menu that I couldn’t try them all. I personally want to try the rest before I give it a 4 star review, granted based off what I ate, everything else will taste just as delicious and will definitely be a 5 star.

This was the best BBQ I’ve ever had in my life. The brisket ribs sausage turkey everything I had was perfectly cooked. Not to mention the sides were wonderful even the deserts. No wonder Ernest and his crew did so well in the competition circuit. I can’t wait to come back and I highly recommend this place. There is not a better bbq spot around.
Came too late for brisket, but that was expected at an hour before close. What I did get was very delicious though. So the pork ribs were the star of the meal for me. Tender, juicy, and slightly sweet, they fell off the bone. Though I prefer a rib with more of a bite that doesn't fall apart so easily, it's hard to deny how good they really were. The smoked turkey was good and well seasoned but perhaps too thick cut for my taste and not quite as juicy as I'd like. Now the street corn pudding was very good as well. Like my favorite Thanksgiving cornbread dressing but with elote toppings, I was thoroughly satisfied with it. The mac and cheese, though good, wasn't necessarily anything I couldn't get elsewhere but the hot cheeto crunch on top was a welcome addition. I like the fact that they have both a ketchup based and mustard based sauce to choose from as well. Overall great experience and I'll definitely be back to try the brisket.
Oh my goodness. Amazing. Ribs are hands down the best I've ever had. Brisket is tender and seasoned perfectly- not over salted. Jalapeno cheddar sausage was awesome-great crunch, texture, creaminess and spice. Mac n chz is cheesy without being over the top. Tres leches big red cake was pretty bomb. All of the employees were friendly and happy we were there. Owner is the one slicing the meats. We got there at 1030 and we were about 20 people back. The line moved quickly. We saw people that arrived right at 11 make it in the door and get food.
Now a days it seems like all brisket served in mom and pop bbq joints in Central or South Texas taste the same. Everyone is smoking prime brisket smoked with oak, primarily post oak and seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic. In my opinion its hard to mess up a prime brisket. The brisket was good but not the best meat they serve. It was over cooked to where it fell apart picking it up. It should have some texture to it when chewing it. The ribs were done better than the brisket. They did not completely fall off the bone and did not taste completely like a sweet brown sugar candy bar. The ribs could of used some heat in the rub or maybe the person cutting them should avoid putting bbq sauce over them before he serves them. I was really impressed with the smoked pork chop. It was very juicy and tender. If it had a more smoky flavor it would of been over the top. The sausage was very good. Some of the best I've had in a while. This place does a great job with their sides. I recommend the macaroni and taters. If the brisket didn't taste like others in the area I would of given this place 5 stars.
