atmosphere great food awesome waitstaff attentive and seem to enjoy their jobs
amazing fried fish and shrimp!
Fantastic Eats and great LA Hospitality. The shrimp poboy with zydeco sauce will be your instant favorite. Can't go wrong here. The seasoned fries will keep your taste buds guessing as to what is in the mix. Spicy but not overpowering. The inside secret we hear, is the boudin poboy, our next visit choice. They even cater to dogs with picnic tables under a pole barn. Well worth the drive from SAT.
I’m the admin of Guadalupe County Jeepers and we had a Jeep meet at this establishment. Best service and Chris made us feel totally welcome. The food if authentic Cajun food made from a real real Cajun from Louisiana, Chris takes pride in his place and food and does a excellent job . The food is to die for. When your going down 123 to San Marcos stop by and see Chris.
Picnic tables in a gravel parking lot next to a 60 mph hyway. Paid $18+ for a spoonful of overcooked green beans , a scoop of white rice with a 1/4" thick piece of fried catfish with a small amount of sauce and a small cornbread muffin ( not hushpuppies). Not worth the drive or the $$s.
Amazing food and hospitality!!!!! Can’t wait to come back and try more things ❤️
The food here is really good. The only thing I dislike is the Gumbo. It has a strong burnt taste to it. I'd recommend they change the recipe for it because I'm not the only customer that's noticed it. The Catfish Acadia is delicious, as well as the Cajun fish, Boudin balls, dirty rice, Bread pudding and green beans. The jumbalaya had a good flavor but when I ordered it, the consistency of the rice made me think it had been over cooked, and reheated in a microwave. The owners and employees are very friendlym Over all 5 of 5 stars. I'll definitely go back.
Unfortunately, my experience of the food here was bad. Very bad. Granted, the etouffee sauce was okay. It had a decent flavor, but the crawfish itself was rubbery from overcooking it. Then I dug into the gumbo, which is honestly the worst thing I have ever tasted. There was no okra or anything else in it except “sausage” and chicken. The sausage had no flavor at all. I don’t know what it was. The gumbo had worse than no flavor. It was disgusting. Shockingly disgusting. I have never thrown food that I ordered away until now. The tasteless, weird “meat” in there was not even salvageable. Even the rice that came with it didn’t approach edible. It was so dried out, it almost made it full circle back to the hardness of uncooked rice. — I’ve never given a bad food review before, but this was not edible. The person, who took my order, was nice. That’s it. A chunk of money flushed down the drain.
Food was really good with the exception of the Gumbo. As soon as I tasted it, it had a burnt like flavor to it. I thought maybe I got a bad batch but I then noticed while reading other reviews from weeks ago someone else said the same thing. So overall, lovely food, great customer service, however I would suggest the owners consider changing the recipe of the gumbo slightly to enhance the flavor away from the burnt kind of taste. If myself and others notice the same thing than it may be something to consider. Regardless, I'll definitely be going back here for more food.
What a great restaurant for Cajun dining! Great menu and great owners!
