The restaurant itself was fine. At first we were told no indoor seating for two unless we wanted a big table (there were open tables everywhere that were eventually filled) and did not want to sit outside in the heat so we took the large table...not a problem. However the service was extremely slow. May have had problems in the kitchen, not sure. Our server seemed friendly but we did not see much of her. Others mostly took care of coffee, she never checked on us (think she was too busy checking on a guy at the bar in his short shorts!) The food was fine once we got it but my order was messed up. I had ordered the Brazilian French Toast and was served regular french toast. Brazilian french toast was supposed to be challah bread soaked in rum. No rum in this bread...it hadn't been soaked in anything. As slow as it was I decided not to send back and just ate what I had. One guy that did check on us (not our server) asked why I didn't think it was the right order and I told him it has no rum taste at all. His response was that the difference is that one has cinnamon on top and one has powdered sugar and that if I had cinnamon that was the rum french toast. I had cinnamon but the rum was still in the kitchen. Too many other good places in town if you are visiting. Skip this one.
We were there less than 45 minutes after they opened, on Mothers Day morning, and we still had to wait for nearly 30 minutes. The wait was well worth it. The employees were wonderful, they had not expected that many people but they seated, served and cleared tables as quickly as I have ever seen and they all kept a smile on their face. The food was very good and my only complaint was that we were seating very near the AC unit and my food got cold a little sooner than I expected.
Little GEM in San Marcos Texas! Their dishes are sooo delicious ?! High quality meal within budget! Very kid friendly.Waffle and chicken, the sauce is a sweet and spicy, grilled chicken burger was very light and fresh, kids mac and cheese with fresh fruit.
Jessie Lane was an awesome waitress! She made us feel very welcomed and home on our visit!!!! Definetly will be back! Food was great especially the build.your.own.breakfast! ?
It is a nice restaurant with very pleasant personal. Pesto pasta is tasty and I recommend to order as a drink a mint hibiscus tea.
Nice vibe inside and out. Friendly server. Had high hopes for the food because of the reviews. Sadly, our meal was very disappointing. Had an overcooked dry small burger on a very basic bun and cold fries (actually homefries). Ate the burger because we were so hungry but requested fresh fries. Replacement fries were better. Most other patrons were having breakfast and those meals looked very good. Perhaps breakfast would have been a better choice. Left there to find a better place to eat because we were still hungry.
Charming, quiet, and fabulous. This is a must-visit place for anyone traveling or moving into the area. The fried asparagus are delicious. All the food is homemade and fresh.
What a fun find in quirky downtown San Marcos. The excellent Trip Advisor rating is spot on. Very attentive service in a laid back location with patio and indoor dining. The red sangria has a good flavor and is garnished with fresh strawberries and blueberries. We selected the bourbon pecan chicken for the entree. It had a crispy and flavorful crust enclosing tender chicken. Mac and cheese served as the perfect compliment. The bread pudding was an amazing finale to the meal. This is definitely on our “come back again” list!
This place was highly rated so we had to give it a shot. The wait was about 30 minutes so we walked around the surrounding shops. When we were seated the great server let us know they were running behind and in the event our food took a very long time, she’d make sure we got a free appetizer. At first glance i was super excited with the menu and went for one of the favorites, the pecan crusted bourbon chicken. My daughter had the chicken and waffles. The food didn’t take as long as anticipated so that was great. I was pretty unimpressed with my choice of the pecan crusted chicken. It tasted a little burnt and it just wasn’t what I’d been expecting. The garlic mashed potatoes were great though and helped pull it together. My daughter loved her plate sized waffle and chicken though! Overall great understanding staff. Maybe I’d try again with a different dish.
