Pickles and peppers for appetizer was great. Hubby got cajun ribeye and I the urban cowboy medium rare and they were cooked perfectly. Tortilla soup needed lime and doesn't come with so ask for it if you like it that way. House salad, baked potato and Brussels were all great. Brussels had a bit of sweetness but I like them thar way.
I just visited the Salt grass in San Marcos, I had my parents who can hardly walk and they sent us all the way to back. They claimed that the front tables were already reserved. I am not sure if because the ethnicity of the people they did not accommodate according to the elderly need. Never going back!
Celebrated my 10 year anniversary here. My wife and i enjoyed wonderfully seasoned and cooked steaks with the cajun topping on them. The staff was great, the food was excellent , the wait was not too long. Everything was great. Definitely will be returning
Service was great, I made it just in time for the lunch specials. Had the steak and fried shrimp which was cooked perfectly.
Food and service was great. Steak cooked to perfection.
This is the first time I had been to this particular location. My daughter goes to school in San Marcos and I was visiting her for the weekend. Saltgrass is pretty consistent, good food, good service. We waited about 20 minutes for a table on a Saturday night so, not too bad. I had the 6oz filet with mashed potatoes, my daughter had the NY with mashed potatoes and her boyfriend had the NY with Mac and Cheese. We all had Caesar salad. The steaks were all cooked and seasoned well and everyone enjoyed their meal. I usually get the rice but opted for the mashed potatoes this time. For me, the potatoes were a little too sweet which was kind of odd.
No rub on ribs at all, absolutely flavorless threw half the slab away. Queso fresco bland no flavor just melted cheese. My husband's sandwich, they did not even put lettuce, tomatoes, or pickles on it. The whole meal was terrible. I have heard such nice things about them clearly overrated. Wasted my time and money seriously. Ruined my anniversary dinner this weekend.
I ordered the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were hard and not very hot like they were sitting there for a while. I ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri and it was awful so returned it. My mother ordered steak with shrimp, the steak was so tough she had a hard time chewing it and ended up clocking on it. I give it a three star because the chicken and shrimp were good. Not worth the price for sure! The service was good.
We ordered nearly 500$ for a party of 10 . There are 6 steaks ordered a steak salad and shrimp plate and chicken fried steak. All of the steaks including the salad was salty and way over cooked for medium rare. We go here a lot and have never had steaks we wanted to send all back but didn’t. They are usually better than this. I expect more with a 500$ tab.
Great place to eat great food and staff were awesome
