Really enjoyed our meal there this last Saturday. When I attended college at SWT back in the '80's this was the high end go to place...especially for parent visiting from out of town. Now I am the parent as we visited for a Sigma Chi reunion and to show my HS senior step son the campus. It felt good and JORDAN, our waitress was OUTSTANDING. It felt good being there.
We don’t go out much, but when we get a babysitter, this is where we like to eat. The food has never disappointed. We almost always get the special. They have full service in the bar and a good happy hour that includes discounted appetizers. The drinks are all very good and the staff always listens and makes ours the way we like. The building and courtyard are all really pretty. We were here last night and had the fried tomato salad and it was the best salad I’ve ever eaten. That followed but the tenderloin made for an awesome meal. Also, our server makayla was great, and the manager and owner came by our table to check on us. Great date night.
We regularly host private events with Palmer’s and they don’t disappoint. Their staff is super kind and helpful and their event coordinator (Kira) works diligently to make sure our events run smoothly. Misty G now works at the bar but she has waited on our party many times and has amazing customer service. We have personally dined with Palmer’s for brunch many times and the food is always tasty….especially the gluten free pancakes. I want to give props to Sydney and Noah for great service as well! We will be coming back.
Came here for Sunday Brunch and it didn't disappoint. Very good menu selections, good drinks and a gorgeous outdoor patio. The indoor bar is pretty cool also. Good pricing, good service. The bar service was very slow today. I think because of staffing challenges per our waitress. Will come back. This is easily one of the better places in downtown San Marcos.
We came to Palmer's for a graduation celebration and really enjoyed it. They have a beautiful courtyard complete with fountain that reminded me of a southern garden. We ordered an array of appetizers - crispy brie with jalapeno peach chutney, boudin balls with a jalapeno cilantro ranch dipping sauce, and freshly prepared guacamole with tortilla chips - all were very good and flavorful. For my entree, I had the salt and pepper salmon with a Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. The salmon and mashed potatoes were particularly good. We also had some fun cocktails - the Mexican martinis were a big hit. They were composed of a frozen cocktail ball and a small pitcher with lime juice and tequila that you could pour over the top - innovative and delicious. The place was busy, but the service could not have been better. Our server was on top of everything, fun, friendly, and professional. We would definitely come back again the next time we're in town.
We had a very good meal and drinks during our visit to San Marcos. Our server was very good as well. The only negative observation I would make is that the menu clearly stated there was a happy hour during the time we were ordering but the “rules “ were not explained and made no sense. Apparently it depended on where we were sitting, dining room or bar and some things were included, some not. What seemed like a good deal really wasn’t.
Went to Mother's Day lunch here. Knew there would be a wait, and there was, but disappointed in the fare. Pot Roast was ok, chicken was good and fish (salmon) was good if you were standing there when it was brought out. The roasted potatoes and mashed potatoes were good. Bacon bits were good, but again you had to be there when the waffles, toaster waffles, were brought out. No pies nor cakes, but a raspberry chocolate type puding. Just not a whole lot to choose from. The bartender did make a good sangria and margarita. Just not impressed.
A group of seven visited Palmer's for its "First Tuesday Wine Dinner." The meal consisted of four course and four wines for $59.00 plus tax and tips. With an additional drink prior to the meal, I suspect everyone paid around $100.00 like I did. This was an enjoyable evening and the food and selection of wines were fine. I'd be inclined to return to this restaurant the next time I find myself in San Marcos.
I went here on a Friday evening made checked in ahead of time online as they offer on the website 45 minutes before I got there. when I got there The Hostess told me they don’t monitor the check in early process and didn’t have any of my information. They told me I’d wait about 45 more minutes after an hour and 10 minutes I decided I was fed up with them and left It really doesn’t matter if the food‘s good or not if the wait and the process is not followed and is ridiculously long. Many tables in the restaurant were empty. I would not recommend as this restaurant does not care about the customers.
I recently went to Palmer's for the first time and I really enjoyed the meal. I was waited on my Sydney S and she was amazing. They have a nice layout with a lot of outdoor seating. There's nice foliage surrounding the outdoor dining area and you will not be able to see any of the nearby traffic. I will definitely be coming back here again.
