This is my go to restaurant in San Marcos when I'm craving home cooking/comfort food. I enjoy coming here with friends and family because everyone seems to enjoy the tasty food. We usually start off with nachos or queso & chips which are both equally great. My go to is always the Chicken Fried Steak. The salad is super fresh and tasty. The service is on point with smiling happy staff. I totally recommend this restaurant.
Very good comfort food, and a classic San Marcos restaurant. If you haven’t stopped by I’d recommend getting the chicken fried chicken as it was perfect. Also the Mac and cheese was on point.
This was our first time going to Grins and it left us wondering why we had never been there before. Our server, Maven, was excellent! The queso was a little thick but really good and the onion rings were awesome.I had the grilled Cajun chicken and added bacon, cheese ?, and jalapeños to it. I chose the broccoli ? cheese soup ? and mashed potatoes ? for my sides and they were excellent. The portions were great too. My wife had the chicken fried chicken ? and she said it was delicious. The prices were reasonable too. We will definitely be back.
Casual dinning at its finest. The food has always been consistently good. This is not a five star restaurant and thats not their specialty. There food is good but not 5 star good, so don't expect that. Instead, expect to be served by a nice person and eat a good hearty well prepared meal along with your favorite beverage.
Service was good and fast! Food was pretty good. Parking is tight and on a hill, but manageable. Nice outdoor deck. Very close to TX State.

Nice place very Friendly Staff they did have issue with power outage though was the overall area and not their fault. Food was great and they give me free dessert for my troubles ?
I’m biased because I worked there in the 80s. The food has always been consistently good. As a former employee, not the best that’s for sure, nevertheless had 3 great bosses (the owners, Tom, Paul, and Johnny!). Friendly staff and great food!
Food was great, and so was the scenery. I would suggest getting the Stuffed Jalapeno Burger. The cream cheese separately added on top of grilled jalapenos, and that layered flavor was perfect. Definitely a go-to next time I come through town.
Very instant bees out on the patio but what do you expect if you sit outside? Otherwise, great food and drinks
