My husband and I in town for three nights for a getaway. We had a great dinner! He had beef quesadillas. I had Mom's lite meal which was one chicken enchilada, one beef taco and a guacamole salad. It was all soooo good! Loved the chips and salsa and the service was excellent! Definitely don't miss this place. Our waitress was great!
It is a Mexican Restaurant in San Marcos, Tx.Really good food at an excellent price!The chips and tea are the best I've had in any restaurant.They serve you a little carafe of tea to place on the lazy Susan in the middle of the table so everyone can refill at their leisure.Its a top notch establishment.Would highly recommend to anyone visiting San Marcos
I asked a local where to go for good Mexican/Tex Mex and they recommended Garcia's. We drove an hour to go there then found the tiny lobby packed with people and a sign reading please wait to be seated. No hostess to be seen, a number of tables available and waitstaff gathered at the back of the dining room chatting. While I was in the ladies room, a young lady asked my husband for his name. We continued to wait until everyone before us was seated then our name was called and we were led to a booth. Wait time really wasn't long, it was just the unknown that raised my anxiety. We were asked for our drink order then waited for quite some time for drinks and chips & salsa. The menu isn't huge but has a good variety. I ordered the Deluxe which came with a taco, tostada, enchilada of choice, tamale, beans and rice. Everything was acceptable but not exceptional, not much flavor honestly. Hubs had the carne guisada with beans and flour tortillas. He liked it and commented that it had good flavor. I wish we had tried the queso. I noticed many tables ordering it. Our server, Meghan was very attentive and pleasant once she got started. I did feel it was a bit pricey but we want to support local as often as possible and I realize that often costs a bit more. Bottom line, we'll probably try a different place next time but our bellies are full and we had a pleasant experience in the end.
I asked for chips and salsa they gave me store tortilla chips, asked for a lemonade I received minute made pink lemonade. Expections and hype where shadered.
Worst Service Ever! Wait staff was horribly rude. So let me start, MY HUSBAND IS A DISABLED VETERAN. YES, HE WAS WEARING HIS DESERT STORM VETERAN. THE WAITER WAS VERY RUDE AND COMPLETELY DISRESPECTED MY HUSBAND. THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR!! Had to ask several times for chips and salsa. The waiter was being very petty and only brought 1 small bowl of salsa and there were 3 of us dining. Waiter started to argue with us about our order several times when he came back each time to confirm what we ordered then he proceeded to argue that was not we ordered. When we ordered guacamole as an appetizer he just brought that and nothing else. No drinks, chips or salsa. The food was great. The service sucked!! We even asked for a manager, he told us there wasn't one on duty. Management really needs to either train their staff better or get rid of that waiter. AND THE OWNER NEEDS TO TEACH THEIR STAFF HOW TO BE RESPECTFULL TOWARDS VETERANS!! THEY RISKED THEIR LIVES FOR US AND OUR COUNTRY!! WILL NEVER BE BACK!! AND WILL BE SPREADING THE WORD THAT GARCIA'S STAFF ARE DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS VETERANS!!
Always great food! Good service. Just seems to always have a wait. But other than that it's awesome.

We have been to several Garcia's from Buda, Kyle, Lockhart, and San Marcos. We just left the San Marcos location on LBJ after waiting for more than 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. We could see that they were busy, but no one even said that they would be with us. Every waiter that passed us by made eye contact and even came within a few feet of us and NEVER said anything. We even overheard other customers who are waiting for their takeout say that no one had acknowledged them or even told them how much longer it would be. This is not the service we have received from the other locations. Disappointing.

This place is consistently good,a favorite of my family and of the Texas State crowd! Small wait times and great affordable prices,and they serve breakfast all day ,a rarity among tex mex restaurants these days!
