Ox Tails. Me "This is just pot roast" also me "WRONG"...Was amazing. Fried Chicken: Me "Fried Chicken is fried chicken" also me "I don't know what they marinate or brine this chicken in but it's the juciest chicken I think I've ever had."... The catfish was probably the thing I was looking forward to the most, which was delicious but I actually enjoyed the other dishes better....All the sides are great. Collard greens macaroni and cheese fried okra. My wife loved the fried cabbage... There is nothing I had that wasn't great.... Server was also great...Thanks Andrea. Very helpful
My fiance and I are both from near the Louisiana border and we could never find food in San Antonio that was anything like back home. Tony G's definitely fit the bill. We both got fried chicken with black-eyed peas, collard greens, fried cabbage, Mac and cheese and corn bread. Everything was amazing. Fried chicken had the perfect flavor and crunch. Most everything was seasoned well. Usually when you find fried cabbage it's over cooked but this was perfect with a bit of a crunch. The cornbread was the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Our server Sunny was also amazing. She knew exactly when to come to the table, and she kept us stocked despite being busy. It's definitely worth the 30 minute drive to come back and eat here for our soul food fix.
The service was great and the servings were large, restaurant was busy but we were seated right away and didn’t take long to get food.
Being originally from Kansas City, MO where we have good food everywhere FROM BBQ to SOUL FOOD...... Well Tony G's I felt like I was at a restaurant in my hometown Kansas City.... Tony G's yall food is what we call FIRE and I will be back! Thank you I found me a place like my home roots!
First time ordering and also first time going against the reviews for picturesIt looked good on google but on the Grubhub app the reviews say bland and etc not so good ratingsThe combo I chose said catfish over grits and breakfast fried potatoes and biscuits or toast not exact wording but you can look at the menu. so when I placed my order it gave the option of grits OR potatoes so I chose potatoes and ordered grits separately presentation was ok despite those old looking potatoes and the cheese didn’t blend it was like oil and water mixed it just didn’t and wouldn’tas far as taste none whatsoever! I added salt and pepper hot sauceHey wasted $17 trying to contribute to BOB. I wanted to leave my feed back because my first impression was not good at all and I placed my order at 10:50 regardless if you’re not going to deliver great food then just say no more breakfast I would’ve ordered lunch.and don’t get me started on that biscuit so I guess go in person so you can turn the food down and not have it delivered and can’t do anything about it thanks.
The food was amazing! It was our first time there and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Great customer service & super friendly staff!
Food was delicious. there was a wait but I was impressed how they moved people in and out expeditiously. The atmosphere was great, the music was good and I liked how the owner came out and greeted the people.
Went to Tony G's today and it did not disappoint. It's buffet style but everything is so flavorful. The smoked turkey was amazing and so was the cobbler. It had fresh peaches. They also have bottomless mimosas in lots of different flavors. Their bloody Mary was great too. The live music and atmosphere was nice. There were lots of people laughing and having a good time. We will be back.
Excellent food I am going back and trying everything
If you're craving good southern food with the equally famous hospitality, this is the place for you! I had a breakfast with creamy/cheesy grits and perfectly over easy eggs. I also had a fluffy/buttery biscuit and a ham steak. Everything was perfectly cooked and served quickly. My son had steak and eggs with a side of bacon. His food was also perfectly cooked and flavorful, and his side bacon, ( which was extra to the meal) included 5 pieces!
