The Hoppy Monk should be on every local and visiting persons checklist! This place is absolutely amazing! If your an advisor beer drinking or learning about beer than this is the spot. They have plenty of options to choose from that one could start from. We recommend getting flight instead of individual beers, that’s where we made the mistake. We’re excited to try the different types they have when we go back. The food on the other hand looked insanely delicious the minute we walked in. I stuck with a hamburger & fries and the wife got a waffle desert. Both were great tasting and would order against. Yet as items were coming out of the kitchen everything seemed to look delicious. We’re excited to go back and try the other options because it was difficult to choose from. The staff was super friendly and helpful in making decisions. This place should be a spot for locals or visitors. Definitely a must!

Average experience for me. This looks like a happening bar, but for me it was average. The beer selection is excellent and have to give the place credit for that. If you are going only for beer, then I would give the place 5 stars.Service was mediocre at best. Food was good, but over priced for the ambience. If you are in for a few beers with friends it is a good place. I wouldn't recommend this place for food or anything else.

We arrived to San Antonio late after a long day of delayed and canceled flights. We need food and a drink and this place was near the airport and our hotel and stayed open late. Great selection of beer, whiskey, bourbon and tequila. And really good food. Highly recommend. The server was awesome.

Great list of alcohol and beers on tap small one page food menu. If a 20 page menu one page was dedicated to food and appetizers. The gochujang chicken which was a bore! Extremely over fried chicken; red sauced but bland. The bun was the best thing. The mushroom appetizer was good; over fried as well. The rabbit tacos were decent. The best thing we ordered was the bacon jam burger. Don’t bother ordering the Brussel sprouts they too were over cooked. Save your $7 and don’t order the Bloody Mary. No garnishment; and as close to virgin as possible.

Fantastic selection of beer and that is to be expected but what I didn't expect was how good the food selection is. The menu is full of great options that you would not expect. We ordered about 6 different things to share and there was not one thing that wasn't fantastic! Definitely check this place out.

The brussel sprouts were good, but a little too sweet for my liking. I think they literally had syrup on them.. In fact the buns and some of the sauces were also sweet, making the whole meal over play the sweet and savory balance. That, coupled with having to flag someone down to wait on us and being charged full price for drinks from the "hoppy hour" on a Thursday night makes them earn a four star rating this time. As for the good/great, the burgers were good size and seasoned well and they have one of the best selections of beer, whisky, tequila and other spirits in San Antonio. They offer flights of beer and whiskey, which I recommend when you don't know what you want or would like to experience the differences to zero in on your all time fave. They allow dogs on the patio, but no kids after 7pm. :-)

Went during Saint Patrick's day so it was very very busy. Food took really long to come out but everyone was friendly. Hopefully during normal operations it isn't as crazy. I got the cabbage and corned beef to be festive and it was pretty decent for $12. Lots of good beers on tap.

My first time here with few friends and we all love this place! We went there on Thursday afternoon around 2pm and pretty much had the place to ourselves so it was nice. Service was good, drinks are amazing and lots to pick from. They have 99 beers and some get swapped out and other seasonal ones brought in so it’s nice options. Parking lot is nice with some covered stalls so it’s perfect for hot days. Definitely going back!

Loved the fact that it is children and dog friendly!! Our waitress was so amazing and patient! I wish I remembered her name! I'm so sorry! The food was so delicious too!!!

Have been to The Hoppy Monk many times and have never had a bad experience. Food is excellent (of course a little pricey but great quality) and there is something for everyone. Highly recommend the Trappist mushroom appetizer, any of the burgers, and the rabbit tacos! Drinks are amazing as well!!
